Many leaders of prominence sell their souls for their lust of power. Yet, who has descended faster than Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Presidential candidate from New York, the crowned heir to her husband’s throne, the former frontrunner who lost her edge to a Washington neophyte from Illinois?
Beyond the realm of dedication, allegiance, and perseverance there is a place where only the possessed will travel undaunted by the constraints of integrity and virtue. In this immoral chasm, the names of virtue and vice are misappropriated: Betrayal is marked as Devotion, Greed is disguised as Ambition, Obsession is mislabeled Perseverance, Egomania masquerades as Munificence, and Deceit impersonates Candor. Many leaders of prominence have taken this elevator down past the ground floor on what they thought was their way to the top. Yet, who has descended faster than Hillary Clinton, the Democratic Presidential candidate from New York, the crowned heir to her husband’s throne, the frontrunner who lost her edge to a Washington neophyte from Illinois?
After falling behind in the popular vote and pledged delegates, the former first lady rallied her team of assassins and set out on a brutal course to destroy her adversary. From the scurrilous playbook of Carl Rove, the devious man that she purportedly loathes, she pulled out the fear card — warning the nation that Barak Obama could not safely handle the responsibilities of protecting the nation from terrorism, despite the fact that for the last eight years, Republicans have drilled this message into a meaningless hole.
Nonetheless, only days later, Hillary invited her opponent, Barck Obama, to consider unifying the party and running as her Vice President. The disingenuous offer only revealed that she too didn’t believe her underhanded criticism of Obama’s abilities to lead the nation. How could she offer the Vice Presidency to a man who could not protect the nation during a crisis? The truth is obvious. Her characterization of Obama is false. Is this what a Democrat calls party loyalty? Her desperate need to win the nomination goes far beyond her concerns for justice, integrity, or loyalty to the goals of her party or the welfare of her nation.
The Terminator’s win-at-all-costs strategy - which continues to keep the spotlight on Rev. Wright and the racial divide - is designed to bloody Obama; unfortunately it is also driving a wedge deep into the heart of the Democratic Party and may only destroy Obama’s chances of beating John McCain in November.
Promoting herself as the candidate of experience, she has since distorted the truth about her less than courageous involvement in Bosnia and her insignificant role in bringing peace about in Northern Ireland. Can she rightly claim a “senior moment” like the Republican candidate, Senator John McCain? Confronted with her dishonesty, she conveniently admitted that it was an innocent mistake — perhaps a lapse of memory. There is no innocence here. Touting accolades that do not belong in her resume is a betrayal of the public trust. Does honesty and integrity matter to Democrats and Republicans anymore? This question haunts Americans voters as never before. What will they not do to win?
Her latest attack came from an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, a money-losing, fringe right-wing rag owned by Richard Mellon Scaife, the supporter of the Arkansas Project, the American Spectator, which was largely responsible for various witch hunts against Clinton during his administration. Scaife is the nut-job that spent millions on fabricating stories against the Clintons; the most infamous of which was about Hillary having whacked Vince Foster.
Democrats who had spent years defending the Clintons from these unfair attacks have a right to be angry and astonished that she would stoop so low as to use an interview with the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review to circulate the Rev. Wright story against Obama. Despite her attempt at pretending to be innocent of initiating the dialogue about Rev. Wright, appearing at an editorial board meeting with Scaife and his bootlickers can only be seen as a deliberate attempt to spread more trash talk about Obama and to encourage the Republican hate vote to show up in Pennsylvania.
Tuesday, March 25th, James Carivill appeared on MSNBC and refused to apologize for describing Bill Richardson as a “Judas” for Richardson’s endorsement of Barack Obama. The question remains; who is Jesus Christ — Hillary or Bill?
Carville insisted that his connection to Hillary’s campaign was entirely unofficial. Yet, any reasonable person knows that this was not a random and independent character assassination. Carville admitted that he wanted to “brand” Richardson for his act of betrayal. This was an attempt to intimidate the superdelegates who are considering switching their support from Hillary to Barack. Richardson’s endorsement of Obama was more of an act of courage than it was an act of betrayal. He was simply supporting the nominee that he believes will lead the country in the right direction. Tactics of bullying, threatening, and unfairly trashing reputations has become commonplace for Hillary’s ruthless and desperate quest for the presidential nomination. The America people have had a long bout with these kinds of politics and have a right to call for an end to it.
The time has come for Howard Dean, the leader of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), to call upon the party’s leaders and its supporters to censor Hillary for perverting the process and for using fear of race, gender, and loyalty to manipulate voters. Within the limits of dedication, allegiance, and perseverance to the ideals expressed in our constitution, Americans need benevolent leadership more than ever — leadership that will honor integrity and virtue more than the lust for power.

Obama still gets a pass no matter what he has hidden in his past, nor what he says and does today. The hatchet men are out in full force against Sen. Clinton. I am becoming firmly convinced that all these so-called Liberals, are neocons in disguise. They are rooting for Obama, because they know in the upcoming debates, even McCain will make mince meat out of him. Good bye my once wonderful country.

What does Obama have hidden in his past?
The only one lying about their past is Hillary Clinton.
By the way, I am not a conservative nor a Republican. I voted for Bill Clinton two times!
Hillary is the one acting more like a Carl Rove disciple and a conservative Republican.
Perhaps you are a Rush Limbaugh devotee and are supporting Hillary because you want to see the Democrats go down in flames. That seems more rational. Get honest!
Ladyg, I respectfully beg to differ with you. I don’t agree that Obama has been given a pass … not by a long shot. What other candidate has had every DNA strand of his geneology dissected under the media microscope? When did you last read a news article about who Hillary Clinton’s great-grandfather is, or whether she has distant relatives in other countries? Has anyone questioned the legitimacy of her parent’s marriage, tried to hunt down her elderly, infirm relatives and hound them into interviews? And when did Hawaii’s legitimacy as a state of this union, or the citizenship of her population become questionable?
Obama certainly hasn’t been given a pass on his religious affiliations, either, unlike McCain and Clinton. One of the inalienable rights at the very foundation of this country is Freedom of Religion, and yet everyone from major news affiliates to fringey crackpot bloggers have weighed in on Senator Obama’s choice of church and pastor.
Our Constitution doesn’t require any religious affiliation at all for the President, and it doesn’t rule any affilitation out. We’re a diverse country with (believe it or not) diverse spiritual beliefs, which we are all entitled to by law. The Presidency is a secular position, and the President is entrusted with the governanace of the entire population, whether that President is Baptist, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Quaker, Hindu, Shinto, Zoroastrian or atheist. Obama is fully prepared to do that. If you listen to the keynote address he gave before the Sojourner’s group in Washington, DC, he clearly states that one’s personal religious practice and beliefs have no place in forming public policy. He is perfectly capable of separating the way he chooses to practice his faith on Sunday from his job. I doubt most of us know as much about the Sunday habits of the CEO’s we work for as we do about Obama’s … nor do we need to in order to do our jobs and have them do theirs. We separate church and state in this country.
But the media and the public want to hammer away at the “pastor problem” merely because they wouldn’t choose that church or that pastor … and they do it based on cherry-picked statements strung together to give the worst possible impression of Rev. Wright. I’m a white, middle-class, middle-aged, educated woman. I’ve listened to the “offending” sermons in their entirety, and I didn’t find them remotely as offensive as the hate-filled rantings of Jerry Falwell, James Dobson or that lunatic Phelps.
Every nuance of Obama’s personal life — including the name he inherited and had nothing to do with — is being dragged through the muck because he has no real scandals, no real political blunders, no extramarital sexual liasons, no shady past and no real dishonor to attack. If that’s being “given a pass” then by all means, let’s stop doing it and treat him like we treat Hillary Clinton … like the entitled heir to the White House who can “mis-speak” and flip-flop like a trout in a skillet all day long.
Perhaps the reason you don’t feel he’s being raked over the coals enough is that he doesn’t scream. It’s not his style. His style is to respond rather than react, to understand that attacks come from fear, and to give those attacks exactly the measure of response they deserve, knowing full well that most of them say more about the people who launch them than they do about him.
My earnest belief is that, if Obama isn’t elected President, it’s not because he doesn’t deserve the office … it’s because this country doesn’t deserve him. And in that event, we will most surely get what we do deserve … another round of deception, broken promises, pandering to the military-industrial complex and special interests, self-serving politics, increased poverty for the middle and lower class, increased wealth for the wealthy, escalating war, global enmity, recession and impotent hopelessness.
I may be a fool, but I’m not a big enough fool to vote for that.
Why are you Democrats expressing so much surprise or support for Hillary? She is doing nothing now that she hasn’t done in the past except her target is now the liberal running for the Democratic nomination for President. For you Obama supporters who supported the Clintons in their 8 years in the White House…well, all I can do is badly quote Victor Lazlo in Casablanca, “Welcome to the fight…now I know our side is going to win.” The fight you are going to have to fight is the one that the Republicans had to fight for years…..lies, deceit, and brutal character assasination.
The article is very accurate.. If Hillary Clinton loses this noination I look for her to create a scene of some kind that will most likely be talked about ,not only in political circles but in the media and world wide for years to come.. She would not have even half of the delegates she has if it were not for the fact she has some inside scoop on a lot of people..
ladyg1921, Thank you for the only insightful words on this page.
