In yet another bizzare example that Hollywood is out of step with mainstream America, celebrities are appearing in a video in which they pledge to be servants to Obama. This looks at the ramifications of this video and what it says about the Hollywood Elite.

Hollywood celebrities vow to “be a servant  to our President (Obama)” in a new You Tube video produced by Oprah Winfrey.  Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, prominent in the video, also pledge to “be the change”.  The scene pans out and other celebrities join in with “because we will be the change that we seek.”  Then each star makes individual pledges.  Some are innocuous,  like “I will drink less bottled water”, while others touch on more controversial issues like abortion.

Some viewers find the video inspiring while others wonder why it took Obama getting elected for these celebrities to see the light.  Many participants are the same stars who made life miserable for President George W. Bush for eight years.  Now they are trying to bring America together under Obama.  Several are freedom-loving celebrities who showed their support for the likes of Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez.

While the few conservatives in Hollywood have had nothing to say but encouraging things about Obama, most celebrities have spent the past eight years complaining and peddling conspiracy theories about President Bush.  Many put America down in foreign countries and accused the Bush Administration of complicity in 9/11.  Some claim that they were with Bush after the terrorist attacks and the invasion of Afghanistan but turned against him when the United States invaded Iraq.

However, the simple truth of the matter is that the Hollywood Elite lack a moral compass.  With a few exceptions, they are people who can memorize lines and express feelings, but otherwise are not the sharpest knives in the drawer.  They seek a leader like Obama who can tell them what to think.  They make movies that put down the U.S. military but they never make films that praise and inspire the military.  Under Bill Clinton they could come and go as they pleased at the White House but that all stopped with the Bush Administration.  Now they can once again sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom.

For the most part, Hollywood celebrities are good at what they do.  However, they are no more knowledgeable about foreign relations and American politics than the average Joe, and their opinions are no better than anyone else’s.  But their egos dictate that they can try to run the country too.  They also fear that they will not get jobs unless their political opinions are the same as the powers that be in Hollywood.  But how can anyone look upon a singer/actress who barely graduated from a high school in Brooklyn as an opinion leader?

I am not a servant to the new President.  You are not a servant. No Hollywood celebrity is a servant.  No American is a servant.  A majority of the American voters elected him to do a job.  That makes him a public servant.  He is OUR servant.  And what the American people giveth, the American people can taketh away.
