How Do We Fix This Country?

What a mess.  The leaders of this country only seem to look out for themselves.  We had a president that was more interested in getting even than in his own country.  The objective was to keep those outsiders from destroying us.   Now we have a president that seems to be destroying us from the inside out.

Most of us can agree that going after Bin Laden & the Taliban supporters was ok.  Its a shame we have actually caught the weasel.  The farce in Iraq was not justified.  Now Obama said “we took our eye off the ball” in the war on terror.  Our mission was to get Bin Laden.   Saturday night live made a parady recently that rings true.  Here are some points made in the show & some that maybe are not.  I didn’t see the show, but I heard about it. 

Close guantano bay? No, it is still open.  Get out of Iraq?  No, we are still there.  Make Afghanistan safer?  No, its worse.  Unemployment? Still climbing.   So, Mr President, the only thing you have accomplished is racking us up to a debt we will never climb out of.  The stimulus plan was a joke.  The fact they may be considering another one is a even bigger joke.   The banks got the money, which they horded.  The bailout ended up in bankruptcy anyway. All this money spent & nothing to show for it.  You should have given it to the little person for a bailouot, at least we would have used it for something to benefit us.

Now we have a healthcare debate.  Honestly now, the government couldn’t even keep up with the cash for clunkers program, so what makes you think they can manage healthcare?  Anything the government is involved in turns out to be a fiasco. 

Here are my ideas to get the country out of the mess, agree or disagree, but it seems like a plan to me.

1. Drill our own oil.   There are places we have as much oil as the arabs do, but because of conservationists, we are not allowed to touch it.   I’m only stating to use this resource for now & pull the plug as soon as possible when my other plans to to power & then to heck with oil.

2. Go green.  While the oil we produce ourselves is giving us break, lets give someone else a break so we can get off the oil as quickly as possible.  What is the main problem with electric cars from selling today?  – The price.  The average American cannot afford $90,000 for a electric car.   So, what about this – no taxes to the manufacturer.  What?  No taxes for the next 10 years for the manufacture’s that can mass produce an “midsize” electric car for less than $16,000 that can go 500 miles between charges.  Employ solar “sunroofs” & regenerative braking & whatever to accomplish this range.  Do this, and by the end of the 10 years the oil rigs will all but shut down from a lack of demand.   Gas will be back below .75 a gallon.   Yes, yes, sounds like I’m in a pipe-dream doesn’t it.  It will work though. To top it off – no more money to the countries that hate us.  We can get 150mpg out of diesel fuel now if someone would pick up the ball.  I would give a tax break for this technology as well.

3. Health care.  What bites me wheneve I get laid off is Cobra.  Ever tried to pay a Cobra bill off of your unemployment check?  How can 75-85% of the public like what they have now, as media suggests?  I guess they can when they have it.  But what if they loose their job?  Not such a good plan then, is it?  We need a healthcare change, but keep the government out of it, other than making a few rules.  Can’t turn someone down for pre-existing conditions is one, some competition is another – open up the borders, even Canada.  We need to drive down the prices, the deductibles, the prescriptions.  I think there should be a a price on prescriptions equivalent to income.  This will help the retired and the unemployed immediately.  If the plans the government is proposing now are so good, why aren’t they on it?  I want what they have.

4. Flat tax.  More government waste in just paper than anything else.  Lets make it simple here.  20% of your income – period.  Any inheritance should be free of taxes.  Your family worked hard & paid taxes on it once already.  You should not have to pay taxes on it again. 

Now, I can go on, and on.   I wish I could be President.  I just never imagined so many nummskulls could be elected as leader of this country.  Enough is enough. Had to vent.
