Certain groups are pushing to tax sugary soft drinks.
How much do you love your soda pop? Enough to pay a 1% tax per ounce? Sugary drinks are under attack and considered the reason we are obese. So to help fight this, a tax has been purposed on them to help raise funds for health care reform and fight obesity.
Diet drinks won’t be affected. What about fruit juices? That lattee or cappicino everyone seems to love? Will someone be stopping in each our homes when we go and add sugar to make Kool aid? Maybe like tobacco put a restriction on it. Only 18 years old and older can drink sugary drinks. Are sugary drinks really our only problems?
So I can eat the fried foods, cakes and candies just as long as I don’t drink anything sugary. I actually like drinking water with chocolate candy. So if it’s 1% per ounce that means a 12 ounce would be an extra 12 cents? Did I do the math correctly?
Okay, I’m in the drive-thru now. Will I be taxed there too? If so, have you ever gotten a large drink that wasn’t totally full? Since ice is added and it’s a 32 ounce and you get charged the tax, is the drink really 32 ounces?
I’m all for good health but where as smoking affected other people, does drinking a soda pop really affect someone else’s health?
