I could not believe what I was seeing and hearing today on CNN! They aired a “news story” about these new incentives to trade in your older vehicle for a more fuel efficient one. They said that, if you traded a car that got 18 MPG for a new car that gets 21 MPG, you would qualify for for a certain amount in incentives.

They also said that, the incentives would be higher depending on the vehicle being traded and the percentage of improvement in fuel economy in the new one. They explained that SUV owners would benefit more than others due to the increased percentage of improvement in fuel economy after trading their vehicles.

The thing I could not believe was that they went on to suggest that a GMC Jimmy owner should take advantage of these incentives by trading his vehicle in for a BRAND NEW SUBARU! Immediately after this, they went on to trash American made cars, like the Chevy Aveo and Cobalt, saying “a bad car at any price is a bad deal”.

Well, I’m sorry CNN, but YOU ARE 100% DEAD WRONG!  When was the last time you drove a Chevy Aveo? I would assume never. In fact chances are your driving a Lexus or a Toyota Prius because you’re so “green” you could care less about what happens to our economy here in our own country. You would rather see homelesss, former auto workers panhandling in our streets than allow another ounce of CO2, wich plants life thrives on, emitted into the air. But, I digress….

I happen to own a Chevy Aveo myself. Although I have to admit I was a little sceptical about buying it, the little car has done extremely well. It may not be Chevy’s “top-of-the-line” vehicle, but it is quite a nice car. I have driven it for about a year-and-a-half without a tune up and it still runs extremely well. At 68,000 miles (well beyond the recommended life span of the shocks) it still rides very smoothly. It came with air conditioning, and an excellent sound system. Other than that, It’s a basic model.

I have owned Toyotas in the past, and the Aveo is extremely competitive. American car companies have had to work very hard to make improvements over past models that American consumers were not quite happy with. I have to say, from my own personal experience with this car, that the American companies have done what they set out to do. Many people have complained about the quality of American cars, and for a time, with good reason. But now is the time to come back home. American cars are now better than ever. The quality is just as good, and in some cases even better, than our foreign competitors.

WHAT ARE YOU IDIOTS AT CNN THINKING!!! Did you get too many swirlies in high school and can’t get the water out of your brains? Our own American manufacturers are facing the ultimate sacrifice and all you can do is trash them and endorse foreign made vehicles??!! Is that how you plan to help improve our economy?! NO! NO! NO! YOU IDIOTS!!! Times like these call for drastic measures. When your own people are hurting you don’t “kick ‘em when they’re down”.

As long as the news media continues to present so-called “news stories” like this one, our economy will not survive. CNN is encouraging Americans to buy foreign vehicles.  How will that help our economy? Last time I checked, Subaru was not flying an American flag. How much did Subaru pay you to run that advertisement anyway? You call that a news story?! I call it anti-American propaganda!!

Why not suggest something a little more helpful? Why not say something like “trade your older GM vehicle in for a brand new GM vehicle that gets better gas mileage.” Why not support our own car companies and help them recover rather than send our consumers running to the foreign competition?

You want an economic revival!? – Buy American!
