Today it seems that up is down and right is wrong.

It’s getting to be very disorientating. Everything physical looks the same, the buildings, the roads, the trees, the people.

But now when I read a news story I expect to hear the Twilight Zone theme to begin playing and in the background hear Rod Serling’s voice saying that this is the story of a man that unintentionally slipped the bounds and crossed over into a parallel universe. Into a place where up is down and right is wrong.

For example, just a couple of weeks back, several teenagers were sent home from their California high school for wearing tee shirts bearing the image of the American Flag. They weren’t sent home for disrespecting the Flag. No, they had worn those shirts before with no problem. This time they were told wearing the Flag on the fifth of May was inappropriate and disrespectful of the Hispanic students wearing Mexican colors and celebrating an unofficial Mexican holiday.

The next week, in another California school, a grade school class was given an assignment to draw a picture of anything of interest. A little girl was then publicly chastised because she had drawn an American Flag and included the words “In God We Trust.” Her teacher told her, that drawing the Flag was inappropriate and offensive. That same teacher praised another student for choosing to draw a picture of our current president.

In a mid-western school, a fourteen year-old boy, with a known learning disability and an IQ of 75, doodled a stick figure drawing that appeared to show him shooting his teacher. Not only has this boy been expelled, the school district is now contemplating pressing felony charges for a “terrorist act.”

At about that same time, our Attorney General was speaking to congress and refusing to label the Time Square Bomber as an Islamic extremist and terrorist. He refused fourteen times.

This is the same man that insists on giving other terrorists and illegal combatants, who are not Americans and were caught overseas, the same rights as an American citizen accused of a domestic crime, including a civil trial in America.

This is the same man who one week berates Arizona for passing an immigration bill, saying that it might be unconstitutional and will lead to racial discrimination. Then the next week is forced to admit he hasn’t bothered to read the ten-page bill.

Speaking of not reading bills, how often, under this administration, has it been obvious that from congressmen and senators, to cabinet secretaries, right up to the president, none of them have bother to read the legislation they are pushing.

Sometimes they have blatantly admitted it, saying this is a crisis, we must act, there is no time to read the bill. It must be passed into law now. Sometimes before the bill is even written.

These bills are gigantic two-thousand plus pages of legalize. One Liberal congressman admitted he would need a team of lawyers to explain it to him, and this man is a lawyer himself. Still, no reason to wait, pass it into law now. Maybe before the masses begin to understand.

Then there is our objective mainstream media.

“This bill won’t add a dime to the deficit.”

“If you make less than $250,000, you’re taxes will not go up.”

“The Stimulus bill has brought the economy back from the brink.”

“The Health Care bill will save a trillion dollars over the next twenty years.”

Does anyone who is paying the least attention really believe that any of these statements, or many, many more, are true?

To the media, truth no longer seems to matter. If it comes out of a Liberal mouth, they simply nod their heads and report it as gospel.

Oops! I shouldn’t have used the word “gospel.” As it is a reference to Christian scripture, “gospel” for many must be a four-letter word. It probably is as offensive as a high school team wanting to say a prayer before a game or including “under God” in the pledge.

In this universe, you must be extremely careful to not offend a Moslem, but anything can be said to berate a Christian, particularly a Catholic. Jesus Christ can be turned into a cartoon character for a cheap laugh, and Christians are expected to turn the other cheek.

The media has yet to do due-diligence reporting on our president. It’s as if he didn’t exist prior to giving his now-famous speech at the Democrat Party Convention.

Has any member of the mainstream asked why he won’t release his birth certificate? How many instead have ridiculed those they refer to as “birthers?”

Why haven’t the media looked into the president’s college and law school grades? These are the same people that went out of their way to make President Bush look like a dummy.

More importantly, why hasn’t the mainstream reported on the president’s socialist background?

The fact that America elected a president that had no actual accomplishments or meaningful experience is a major clue that somehow I have slipped into the Dark Side.

I have more executive experience than candidate Obama. Yet he was elected on a platform of “hope and change” and “yes we can” with no one bothering to ask for a definition of that intended change.

As a result of that election we have a Treasury Secretary who is an acknowledged tax cheat. But that’s okay because he didn’t mean it and he won’t do it again. Several other tax cheats were appointed to office too, but only after they said they were sorry.

We have a Homeland Security Secretary who knows nothing about security or anti-terrorism, but she was an out-of-work Democrat that supported candidate Obama.

The media applauded, some almost wetting their pants they got so excited, when candidate Obama talked about how his approach to foreign policy was going to solve all of our problems. He was going to talk to our enemies respectfully and they would be respectful of us. All would turn to sunshine, as the world began to love us again.

Well, after eighteen months of sweet talking, bowing, and apologizing for America on the world stage, can you name one foreign policy win?

Our president has no problem insulting our allies, and bowing to dictators, and no one complains.

We have a majority leader in the Senate who declared the war in Iraq lost while we had American troops on the ground in combat, and the media doesn’t mind. He breaks senate rules to pass an unpopular bill and they call him sage.

We have a speaker of the house who says that the time to read the bill is after it’s passed. A speaker who insist on separation of church and state in all things, except when she’s urging bishops to speak up for “comprehensive reform.” To the media, neither is a problem.

Back to Arizona. Like his predecessors, the president refuses to seal the southern border. Whenever the topic of illegal immigration comes up the stated solution is “comprehensive reform” which is code word for amnesty.

Without aggressive border enforcement, Arizona and other states are being overrun by illegals. In order to protect it’s citizens and control expenditures, Arizona has passed a bill that, essentially, is a restatement of existing Federal law, for the state level. Since the state officials intend to actually enforce the law, they have subject to the most disgusting ridicule from everyone from TV talking heads, Liberal groups, and federal officials at all levels right up to the president.

In this universe, try to enforce a law and you’re treated with contempt and called a Nazi. Break that law and be welcomed and showered with freebies and “rights.”

Just like in Oz, on the big stage in Washington, the giant talking head is considered omnipotent, has all the answers, and can do no wrong, only here no one is pulling back the curtain so we can’t see who’s pulling the strings or why.

This is not the America I know and love.

Just like Toto, I long to get home.

Unfortunately, at least until next November, I’ll be stuck in the dark side of Oz.
