As the dominant power, is it time for the USA to expand its imperialism.
America has, in general, resisted the urge to take colonies. However, it certainly hasn’t resistant the urge to invade and interfere with other people’s states. Aside from the rather clear examples of actual invasions of states, one need only look to the shady history of the CIA to note that the USA has interfered with many a government, supported many a rebel, and funding many an assassination. In effect what the USA is doing, is interference, without responsibility. Perhaps it is time that the USA took on its responsibility and colonially dominated weak and divided states, in order to maintain its own security and maintain its power based.
Don’t get my wrong, colonization is morally problematic, not to mentioned technically tricky. However, I feel that its time to come out of innocence and into the real world of American domination. Perhaps we can all dream of a time when Wilson created his doctrine of self determination and the USA stood back and let the world decide for itself. But where did that lead? It led to world wars, anarchy and Soviet power. No, the time has come for America to grown up, and realize that, if it wants power, it must take the burden, and the benefits of being powerful.
I would suggest that first off, the USA flood Afghanistan with troupes and money. They’ll need to set up a mock democracy, and put one of their leaders in place. Once an American stooge is in place, it will be time to fund Afgani military power, and to keep a few thousand US troupes in the area. Perhaps also it would be wise to ‘guide’ their economic progress. With American companies taking the lead. So the USA can make back the money that it looses on the attack and the occupation.
