John Edwards: Adultery and Lies

It has always been my belief that what goes on between

a man and his wife, should be a private situation. But if it

spills into the public arena, because of inappropriate and

sordid circumstances, then the whole thing becomes a

matter for public consumption and criticism. This appears

to be the case with former Senator John Edwards and his

wife Elizabeth. It is alleged and he has confessed, to having

an affair with a video-grapher who worked for his PAC.

One Rielle Hunter, who met the Senator in a bar in New

York, in 2006, and eventually came to work making videos,

for the internet, about the campaign and Mr. Edwards. She

was interviewed and was quoted as saying she wanted to

change the Senator’s image, I’d say she succeeded.

Mr. Edwards, reportedly said the affair lasted for two months,

and ended. Ms. Hunter is said to have a baby, and she is also

being quoted as saying the child is the daughter of John Edwards.

Mr. Edwards has said the child is not his, and he is willing to

take a paternity test to prove that the child is not his.

The Enquirer tabloid has been reporting on this story for about

one year, with Senator Edwards refuting the story whenever he

was asked about it. Things came to a head, when a reporter from

the Enquirer received a tip that Mr. Edwards was going to a hotel,

the Beverly Hilton, to meet with Ms. Hunter and her child. The

reporter went to the hotel to confront Mr. Edwards. He waited,

and around 2:40 a.m., reportedly Mr. Edwards left Ms. Hunter’s

room, taking the stairs down to the basement. The reporter went

up to Mr. Edwards, and identified himself, and asked Mr. Edwards,

why he was visiting Ms. Hunter and his daughter, and why he

would not take responsibility for the paternity of the child. The

reporter said Mr. Edwards looked panic stricken, ran off, went

into the bathroom, and would not open the door, until a security

guard, who happened to be in the area, assisted Mr. Edwards, out

of the hotel. After this episode, Mr. Edwards made the decision,

to announce what he had done.

Another individual, Andrew Young, who worked on the Edwards’

campaign, had said that he was the father of Ms. Hunter’s child,

but Ms. Hunter, who is happy to tell everyone, that she never had

sexual relations with Mr.Young, and is reportedly saying that she

is hopeful that Senator Edwards will accept the paternity for the

child. The child’s birth certificate does not have a name in the

space for father. Andrew Young is living in a million dollar home,

in California, reportedly with no visible means of support, as is

Ms. Hunter. Mr. Young’s wife is along for the ride, as reported,

all three move to California together. Made for tv movie anyone?

Senator Edwards gave a interview on Nightline on Friday night,

to fill in the missing details. Meanwhile, Mrs. Edwards is trying

to deal with incurable cancer.

Mr. Edwards is said to have told his wife, about the affair.

She forgave him and they were working out the situation

between themselves.

The other little tidbit, is that Ms. Hunter supposedly receives

fifteen thousand dollars a month, from somewhere. Mr. Young

also reportedly, receives monetary assistance.

Senator Edwards had a lot to offer the country, when he was

running for president, it is a disappointment, that this has

stifled his career. My question is this, what wife, after being

told that her husband had engaged in an extra-martial affair,

would allow him to go out on the national stage and campaign

with him and for him, knowing that there was a time bomb,

somewhere out there, waiting to explode? I don’t want to play

pop psychologist but I will, it is my belief, that Mrs. Edwards

wanted to have, either consciously or sub-consciously,

her husband’s affair made public to the whole world as pay

back for betraying her trust. It would give her the satisfaction

she wanted for his cheating on her. He is also stupid for

thinking no one would find out about the affair, in this age

of cyber news. I hate to be morbid, but I do think that Mrs.

Edwards, agreed to him running for president, so that this

very thing would take place. She is facing possible death,

so this is how she leaves her husband, with a destroyed

political career, take that you scoundrel. There is also Ms.

Hunter waiting in the background to possibly marry Mr.

Edwards if and when Mrs. Edwards is no longer with us.

This was stated by a reporter on network news, it doesn’t

get much more sordid. What a sad, sad situation, I feel

extremely sorry for the children, no one else appears to be a

victim in this pitiful mess.

The other thing that is been talked about, is what if Mr.

Edwards had won the nomination, and this had come out

now, what a blow to the Democratic party, that would have

been, how in the world do two people as smart as the

Edwards, appeared to be, put themselves in this kind

of situation? I seriously fail to see the logic, and the reason

they decided to do such a risky, dangerous thing, with

no thought to the consequences.
