A further look at the stimulus of the world.
MY OH MY, what a tangled web we weave, when we first we start out…well you finish that statement out…..
I am reading with amazed confusion, some statements made by the CEO of Sunoco Oil. In these statements, Lynn speaks of a couple of issues that totally seem to contradict each other. On the one hand, there is a concern for getting on the band wagon of the climate change legislation so popular in today’s Congress and Presidency. However, backing that up, there should be an increase in the Federal Gasoline Tax to repair and update the “infrastructure”….highways and byways….of these United States…Seems as if one statement contradicts the other.
Further delving into this entire situation, the next day, I read with utter dismay about the CO2 credits that can be swapped around from company to company and perhaps create a new commodity market that will be highly profitable for investors, price fixers, profiteers and other such personages. Meanwhile, the average consumer goes completely unnoticed and without a voice in this matter that really concerns us. Humm, I guess I could have a V8 and contemplate the impropriety of this whole situation….but I will move forward with yet another item that caught my attention. It seems, that lawmakers in the states in this nation, deem it necessary to
- Spend Millions of Dollars on Red Light Cameras
- Pass legislation on how low pants can be worn on gentlemen
- Make it legal from people to carry guns at work
- This list can go on and on!
I have a suggestion about the Green House emissions and the laws now surrounding this issue. In travels around the world, it has been a great joy to travel on some very efficient, hydroelectric propelled transportation, albeit, the water seems to be furnished by nature with the dams constructed by human hands, what a concept, nature and humans, working together with renewable resources, pretty much non-CO2 pollutant and a plus to the ecosystem. That sounds like a win – win situation to me. But of course, these modes of transportation are quite dependable, whereas, Amtrak leaves a lot to be desired, and is still diesel. Perhaps that infrastructure money could be placed elsewhere and really create a highly workable transportation infrastructure here in the US of A.
Renewable, no control on the costs of creation, well, a bit, however, renewable vs. depletable. Seems like the dinosaurs left the earth a long time ago, what’s next in this depletable resource, perhaps, well, I feign to answer that question. Perhaps it would be advisable to support legislation that endorses the Worldwide Agriculture Community, and push the tax incentives there instead of the Oil Industry. Agriculture has been fueling our world for many millennia and with the advent of Bio Fuels, which seems to be the future for our society as a whole. Bio Diesel… Hydrogen Motors… Where will it all end?
Perhaps, just a thought here, taking things back to Agriculture and the support there of, could possibly lead to the reinstatement of those family values we hear so much about, and the de – urbanization of the US of A that took hold during the depression with the advent of the industrial revolution. Let’s do get back to basics, consider, as in the WPA, putting Americans back to work, and cutting out corporate greed and waste. Whole cities and areas opened up to development and prosperous times around those projects.
I am a bit remiss, for not mentioning earlier about another tax shelter that is taking place on a regular basis right here in America. It seems, that in order to hit the bottom dollar, and increase the tax deductions for the retailers, that planned disposal of durable and saleable goods takes place on a regular basis, all for the purpose of tax write offs and such. Meanwhile, on the other hand, they support major charities, the people on government assistance that can not afford these items at the overpriced state they are in now. Of course, you know me, I’m going to say something, as others are doing already, what a waste, those kitchen appliances, food stuffs, clothing, linens and whatever else is compacted, disposed of in an unproductive way, would make a poor family very happy to have some of the high quality things that others buy on a regular basis.
Seems to be PT Barnum, alive and well….”There’s a sucker born every minute!”.
My best words of advice right now, in these economic times, relax, breathe, enjoy life, we’re just shifting to some kind of normalcy after the insanity of previous decades of decadence. It will get much better.
