In the 2008 presidential election there were many different debate topics that both candidates debated over.

During the election Obama and McCain debated on a great variety of issues. McCain had a game plan for the debates that shadowed him in a negative light. His plan was this: “Go after the Democratic presidential nominee whenever possible, but not too harshly.” This actually made him seem less like a good candidate for the election. Obama had a much “cleaner” game plan. Obama would not put down McCain as much as McCain was putting down Obama. This would make Obama look better and more electable/presidential.

The debates varied over a great variety of topics from the “War in Iraq” to healthcare. The main topic that has been being debated is the current economic state. In one debate McCain said “I think everybody knows now we are in the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression,” Obama said in the same debate: “the financial crisis is a final verdict on the failed economic policies of the last eight years, strongly promoted by President Bush and supported by Senator McCain”.

Overall this campaign has been a very interesting one excluding race and gender of the candidates and their running mates. This has been a historic election and the decisions made will change the United States for a long time to come. This change I have no doubt will be for the better.
