Mel Gibson’s Secret Lovechild

That’s what headlines all over the world screamed in late December 2006. So who is this lovechild who is not so secret anymore? Well, her name is Carmel Sloane and she is a 30-year-old woman who, if her mother’s claims are to be believed, would be Mel Gibson’s oldest child, and she would also claim to have Mel’s first and so far only grandchild.

Many, in fact most, of the articles I could find on the internet were calling the child as someone out to grab fame and money. Is the world in such a state that we could not for a second believe that this is a truthful claim and that this once little girl who has always believed her mothers claims that one of the biggest movie stars in the world was indeed her daddy? Why do we always side with that of the rich and wealthy? Aare they more honest than the average everyday Joe and Jane?

Sure we all remember when Bill Cosby was proved not to be the father of a woman claiming to be his illegitimate daughter, but we all seem to have forgotten about other cases, including Boris Becker who fathered a daughter that he later learned of, and the Prince of Monaco who has even been proved a father out of wedlock.

We all look up to people like Mel Gibson, we somehow wish we could know them or even be them. Mel is an Australian icon. Sure we all love his movies, yes he’s big on charities and putting back into the community, but what kind of standing should this man have in today’s world if he’s willing to deny his own blood? Just remember guys, it has NOT been proved or disproved that Carmel is actually Mel’s Daughter (though she does resemble him quite eerily) So why hasn’t he offered to do DNA testing.

At the time of the story first breaking Mel wasn’t commenting but his spokesperson had this to say: “Mel has never heard of this woman…and whats stopping anyone from making such claims.”

Well, Mel since you haven’t actually denied that there’s a possibility Carmel is your daughter, does that mean your admitting there is a chance it’s true?
