Ok, I am not actually friends with this Sheriff, but if admiration, respect and knowing many things that are for the good for many count, he is my friend. I am sure you know or are aware of some individuals like that in your life too.
There are no reasons to glamorize this with pictures, video or decorations, but only to tell you that my friend, the sheriff, is being attacked and why. More than four years ago, I started following the actions of Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Arizona. Now that was long before the whole immigration of illegal aliens balloon got dropped on Americans. I am all for sharing this country with anyone who arrives here “LEGALLY” and opposed to anyone who thinks they are above the law in acquiring necessary cards, wavers or citizenship to stay here in America. This is a big issue with my friend, Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County, Arizona and now the Federal Government who is on his heels.
Joe Arpaio is and has been a law enforcement stronghold since he took oath as sheriff in 1992 in Maricopa County, Arizona. That is not Joe’s first position to uphold legal issues, so he came with a long list of commendations for the great work he has done for human- kind long before that 1992 appointment. It is necessary to inform you that he has steadily been re-elected by the voters because of his outstanding job in all the duties his sheriff position has asked of him. Full information and a picture can be viewed on http://www.wikipedia.orgwhen you put in Joe Arpaio’s name. I personally have background knowledge of this fine man which I want to share so you too will know Joe.
Since you can fully admire Joe Arpaio too, he determined to take stray dogs and run a program that not only benefited the canines, but gave jail inmates perhaps a bright spot in their lives with the dogs they were permitted to care for too. Socialization is important for dogs so they can get adopted into their forever homes. Joe saw a need to get that done, pay a small amount for the inmates walking these dogs, until they were adopted. By the way, this did not cost the tax payers, since the small payment to the inmates came out of the adoption fee people paid when people took their four footed friend home. It has been successful for dogs, the community, the inmates and friends of Joe’s that knew his motives and actions in this arena.
Jail is not supposed to be the Riviera, so Joe does such a good job that inmates don’t really want to return to jail so not many re offend for that reason. The inmates can’t watch porn, drink coffee and they have uniforms that are not out of Vogue magazine. It is said, in some distant report, the uniforms are pink, which is not a favorite color for all. Hey, it is jail, why should it be a picnic for the residents! That is somewhat why Joe is a friend since I fully agree with his practices as stated.
Experience and good results are two words that I think Joe Arpaio fills completely for the residents of Maricopa County Arizona as their sheriff. These are worthy words that I commend his position, that help all Americans as well. Early last year, Joe was accused of profiling and arresting illegal aliens. Joe is a sheriff, who is hired and bound to uphold the law. When people break the law, they are discovered, sooner or later. With some of the people that were apprehended, these people were found to be illegally in America and arrested as illegal aliens. Again, I think that is a man doing his job well. Anyone who thinks they can be above the law and not follow the requirements of lawful entry into the United States, is here illegally. Someone going into any foreign country needs documentation to lawfully remain.
90 years ago, both sets of my grandparents came to this country to get a better life. They were sponsored by employees before they landed at Ellis Island, worked toward becoming naturalized American Citizens and followed the law. All four were a credit to this wonderful country. They were honored immigrants of whom I will always be proud to call them family.
The Federal Government is not supporting Jan Brewer, the Governor of Arizona to help with the illegal immigration influx and is being ridiculed for her actions to protect citizens against illegal aliens. Crime is rampant enough that signs are posted near Casa Grande informing visitors of the dangers of lawlessness by gangs. Yes, most are illegal immigrants with guns, looting and accosting people as they travel in their areas of attacks. Now the Federal Government is saying Joe Arpaio is profiling and withholding files of detainees. Those files will be given as soon as the Government says which ones they want from my friend, the sheriff.

Love the part about the pink uniforms…all jails and prisons need to be less comfortable and more embarrassing!! lol

Obama and his Administration is acting as though they are not representing this country. What’s equally as bad is the Dems in Congress are in bed with him. Their followers (of Obama and congress) need to snap out of their stupor and see what’s really happening under this government’s grab for total power. I also know all about sheriff Arpaio and his antics to shock/embarrass prisoners in ways that they would not want to return to jail again, and the good things that he tries with prisoners to help them and the community. The Feds have been on his heels for a long time, but I believe the reason they are suing him at this time is to heap more problems on Arizona. It is un-American, in my opinion that the US president does not do his job in defending the country’s borders and then jump on a state in the union because it is taking the lead. Obama and the Dems have their lawsuits, but they are signing their end in government service. November will be the beginning of America’s wrath! Can’t wait to get to the voting booth and level my frustration against all of the incumbent thugs, especially the Dems!
If the law is fair, and one against it then he/she is considered as “illegal” alien. But, if the law is unfair one against it, they are not considered “illegally” as they are doing their job to voice people’s need and attention.
I have heard about your “friend”, the sheriff and believe he is doing an outstanding job especially working against the problems he has to deal with.
Nice one….
thanks for share.
The issue in Arizona is hardly simple. Not only has the Arizona law been impacting Californians (a man born and raised in Fresno was arrested and held in jail until his wife drove to Arizona with his birth certificate… he was pulled over when he, a truck driver, stopped at a weigh station. His registration and everything else was in order but he was Latino.) but Arizonians have also passed HR 2281 which would prohibit:
•Classes that promote the overthrowing of the U. S. government
•Classes that promote the hatred or resentment of a race or class of people
•Classes that are designed for students of a particular ethnic group
•Classes that advocate ethnic solidarity
(http://www.azleg.gov/legtext/49leg/2r/bills/hb2281s.pdf )
IMO, there is a problem in Arizona when it’s OK for Arizonians to arrests Americans because they look like they may be illegal and when it’s Not OK for students to study about anything the US may have done wrong. Can one still study about the Civil War and slavery in Arizon or is such a class deemed one that may “promote the overthrowing of the U. S. government”?
He sounds like the right man for the job. A really good post.
Christine
Wow, you ruffled some feathers on this one, Goodie.
Thanks for the brave article on a subject that I must take a closer look at. I learned something. And Joe sounds like a man that many should know. A true man. Thanks for sharing.
The Sheriff’s job will never be easy. Sometimes I can’t understand why good citizens are questioned for doing their job well. Great post.
I have heard of him and I like what he does and what he stands for.
This is a tough subject to tackle Roberta but you did a wonderful job presenting this. As far as profiling, my wife’s family migrated from Mexico legally for over the several generations but they are almost always stopped and questioned.
a very sensitve issue to talk about, But I did praise the man, he just did his job
I have to say two thumbs up for your friend the Sheriff, pink uniform, also he helping some animals as well, I think its good the prisoner have some responsible as well.
thanks for sharing this!
