I believe the sooner Sudanese President Omar Al- Bashir is arrested, the better.
In Darfur,Aid workers are being expelled in the wake of an arrest warrant issued for Sudanese President Bashir.
Bashir is being charged with war crimes against civilians, the Sudanese Government is fighting international efforts to have Bashir brought to Justice.
I am calling for his immediate apprehension, in my opinion, Sudan’s refusal to turn him over is equivalent to harboring a fugitive.
Darfur civilians should not have to suffer tyranny at the hands of government or anyone else.
The sooner Bashir is arrested, the better.
The sooner Aid and relief workers can return to the troubled region, the sooner there can be peace.
Dear readers,I have been closely following events in Darfur, if you know anything about it, you know the events there are heart wrenching.
Recently, when Sudan decided to stand behind their president instead of behind the people, I was offended beyond words.
Perhaps it is my “westernized” mind, but I believe all citizens of the world deserve freedom. I also believe it is a God-given inalienable right.
Part of freedom is the right to a life free of oppression.
I believe more needs to be done to ease the suffering in Darfur, I am tired of seeing my fellow members of humanity being deprived of basic humane treatment. The tyranny and terrorism in Darfur needs to cease.

Heart wrenching is an understatement. This is the Holocaust of today. There are whole tribes that are being erased from the earth. I am not for policing the world, but some things are so outrageous that they must have the attention of the rest of the world. Africa is just one big mess in my opinion. What parts are not being mass murdered have children as young as 8 being married & impregnated for a cow, people enslaved for blood diamonds, etc…
Great piece, John. Very heartfelt, thoughtful.
It’s great that you have been observing the genocide- so little of African news makes it across the ocean. It’s a shame that Africa only comes to our attention when there is a disaster- that leads people to believe it’s got nothing but problems. But it is a huge continent with many different types of people and there are stable areas- which gives me hope.
