Anyone (individual, organization, state), belonging to any area of the world, following any religion or ideology, speaking any language, practicing any profession, etc., who harass, injure or kill any person unjustly is a terrorist. Glorification of terrorists and terrorist activities is an unpardonable heinous crime; however, butchering innocent civilians and targeting genuine freedom fighters of the subjugated nations by labeling them terrorists is the biggest offense that has become a norm in the contemporary world. Hegemonic states expand their empires by squeezing weak nation states. When the oppressed natives resist and retaliate, the power intoxicated states sponsored dinosaurs and the paranoid media of the influential states spare no effort to project liberty-loving indigenous leaders and defying inhabitants as terrorists so that leading resistance forces can be wiped out by giving them bad brand. Subjugation of locals provides fertile breeding ground to give birth innovative means of confrontation in them; therefore, currently suicide bombing due to revenge and retaliation has emerged poor nations’ lethal weapon.
When latest weaponry possessing authoritative countries attack the frail nation states, the dwellers are left with no other option but to adopt the course of self-destruction to cause maximum damage to the invading adversaries to compel them to reconsider their nefarious designs. The root cause in this context is foreign incursion while blowing themselves up to kill the foreign aggressors is the repercussion of this undue mugging. It is ironic that power drunk countries use their yellow-eyed and wheeler-dealer mass media to project themselves liberators to justify their unjust interventions while the indigenous people struggling to defend their fundamental right of liberty and national sovereignty are propagated miscreants. The clever and powerful alligators flare the flames of blood-laden sectarian conflicts, ethnic enmity and political rivalry in weak countries that provide them vacuum to poke their noses in the internal affairs of scrawny states.
After the self-created tragedy of Nine Eleven, Uncle Sam and its allies invaded Afghanistan. The hardliner regime of Taliban was toppled by replacing it with lame duck democratic castle of sand headed by western puppet President Hamid Karzai. The jurisdiction of this handpicked government is restricted to Kabul. The retreating Nato forces are aware about this bald fact that 2/3rd area of Afghanistan is still under the control of Taliban. History of Afghanistan is replete with wars that speak volumes that the natives never accepted occupation of the foreigners. When British colonial power strived to absorb Afghanistan into the fold of its vast empire, the indigenous people fought tooth and nail that compelled the overseas usurpers to lick the dust. On 1979, USSR sent its Red Army in Afghanistan to materialize its dream of reaching the warm waters of Arabian Sea; however, the natives came to blows valiantly that resulted in tearing apart of the Soviet Union into several states. But western allies, having fixed their yellow-eyes on energy resources of the CARs and the Caspian Sea, did not learn any lesson from the war-loaded chronological account of this war-torn country. Now its forces are facing tremendous resistance due to Taliban insurgency. The sole uniting forces among the invading troops are their vested interests while Taliban are cemented ethnically, combined regionally and integrated ideologically. These binding forces have developed solidarity among them. As they are fighting with powerful armies of the world; therefore, their survival lies in unity within their ranks. Resultantly, they are posing formidable challenge to the alien invaders by instilling terror in their hearts and horror in their owl-stuffed minds.
Fata of Pakistan has become a new battleground and an easy scapegoat for retreating and defeated foreign troops stationed in war torn Afghanistan. Top military commanders of American and Nato forces accept that they are losing the battle in Afghanistan and to have an edge over combative Taliban is a hard nut to crack and a distant dream. Therefore, they have started blaming Pakistan that it is sponsoring Taliban and Fata is the hub of miscreants from where foreign troops are being attacked. Time and again air strikes in Pakistani territory are naked aggressions against it national sovereignty. These atrocious attacks are causing massive civilian casualties. The UN is playing the role of a dumb duck in this context. It did not pay even lip service to condemn unfair attacks of western powers on a sovereign country by trampling well-established international laws under their messy feet.
Recent announcement of Nato spokesman that forces of the western military bloc wouldn’t participate in any attack on Pakistani territory is a major jolting blow on the face of Uncle Sam. Bush wants to present a success story in the form of a major breakthrough regarding al-Qaeda that can mould public opinion in favor of Republican candidate John McCain whose chances of losing the upcoming Presidential elections are as clear as the midday sun or the full moon on a clear night. Bush used similar tactics in his second term presidential elections by airing a fabricated movie of Osama Bin Laden loaded with his fictional threatening statements. History of tribal is replete with resolute resistance against the alien meddlers. They forever fought bravely against Martian snooping crocodiles having despicable designs in their native mountainous areas. The American forces should learn lesson from history of the people residing in tribal belt because they always taught bitter lessons to assailants while booting them out.
After 9/11, Bush administration sought phony pretexts to link Baathist regime with al-Qaeda to justify attack on Iraq. Presence of WMDs and dictatorship were other lame excuses to attack this poverty-stricken country to grab its energy resources. American even bypassed UN to accomplish its reprehensible hegemonic designs. Now the links between Saddam Hussein and presence of deadly weapons have proved hoax. The slogan of democracy is greatest scam because a rag-tag and patchwork controlled democracy is in place that was installed to legitimize every illegitimate action of the far-off attackers. This unwarranted war has resulted in massive casualties and made hundreds of thousands permanently disabled. Millions of people skating on their uppers have become refugees due to unending air strikes, missile attacks and shelling. Thousands of native women have turned to prostitution to earn few coins to keep body and soul together. The victims of war are like moving mounds of pile soaked in grief. Confrontation between natives and against raiders is a natural phenomenon. O’ international community call a spade a spade by listening the voice of your conscience! I leave unto you to decide who is terrorist; foreign aggressors or native resisting elements.1
The Democratic Republic of Vietnam (DRV) under the auspices of Ho Chi Minh fought First Indochina War (Franco-Viet Minh War) bravely from 1946 to 1954 to get independence from clutches of the French forces. He mobilized the natives against the alien forces; therefore, it is also known as “people’s war”. However, there was another war in the offing that demanded more blood of the aboriginals to get rid of uninvited nosy parkers. Due to support of Mao Zedong the communists strengthened their roots in the country. The American policy wizards believe that if the whole country fell into the fold of communism then escalating tentacles of Marxist-Leninist ideology would spread to Southeast Asia. This conviction was branded as the “domino theory.” In order to counter mushrooming communism the US sponsored the establishment of a non-communist government. However, the repressive policies of the regime in South Vietnam resulted in rebellion and conceiving of the NLF in 1960 with the objectives of ousting the government of South Vietnam and reintegrating the nation state. In 1965 America sent its troops to rescue the crumbling anti-Communist regime of South Vietnam when it was in dire straits. The inhabitants including the North Vietnamese and the National Liberation Front (NLF) fought heroically their war against US forces and American stooges in the form of South Vietnamese army (Second Indochina War from 1959 to 1975).Uncle Sam failed to materialize its objectives because the natives gave a jolting blow on its face. Ultimately, Vietnam reunited in 1975 and in the subsequent year it officially became the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. During the warfare approximately 3.2 million Vietnamese lost their lives, in addition to another 1.5 million to 2 million Lao and Cambodians. Nearly 58,000 Americans were killed in the war that drove last nail in the coffin of USA by breaking its back and forcing it to withdraw its humiliated troops.2
The black community of South Africa rendered diligent and gallant sacrifices under the valiant leadership of Nelson Mandela to permanently get rid of apartheid regime of white grabbers of European origin in 1990s that had driven the whole community to the wall. Nelson Mandela said, “Between the anvil of united mass action and the hammer of the armed struggle we shall crush apartheid and white minority racist rule.”3 It was the result of fiercest and sharpest struggle that resulted in freedom of the marginalized and strangled black community from the clutches of a encumbered and prejudiced white minority that was perpetually squeezing them. The same Nelson Mandela that was once branded terrorist became the first president of his country after winning freedom and was awarded Nobel Peace Prize. Now he is hailed hero and enjoys high esteem all over the world due to unprecedented sacrifices for his community, indomitable will in his freedom fight, unwavering determination to achieve his cherishable goal of liberty for his nation state and dauntless courage to have eyeball to eyeball contact with his commandeering enemies.
Kashmir and Palestine have been burning and bleeding for six decades but the meddler Indian troops and intruder Israeli forces could not suppress freedom struggles of the natives in their respective territories. The freedom movements are continuously gaining momentum because the inhabitants have been presenting extraordinary sacrifices. They are dogged to pay rich price to breath in fresh air of liberty. Due to recent upsurge in freedom struggles, the subjugated communities have become focus of attention for the international community. Similarly, freedom struggles of Bosnia and Chechnya could not be suppressed by the intruders despite the lapse of several years. The natives of these areas are dead sure that one day chains of slavery are bound to melt, shackles of subjugation are bound to crack and fetters of cruelty are bound to shatter. It is ironic that UN has badly botched to endorse its resolutions that can give permanent resolutions of these intricate and unrelenting dilemmas.
Terrorist activities of Phalangist Christians backed by Israel and the western countries ignited Civil War in Lebanon (1975-91) that provided opportunity to the opportunist alien meddlers to intervene in its internal affairs. Israel launched a major assault on Lebanon on March 14-15, 1978. On March 19, 1978, UNSC passed resolutions 425 and 426 to ensure withdrawal of Israeli forces by replacing them with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL); establishment of peace; and writ of the Lebanese government. However, the international peacekeeping troops badly failed to achieve their overt motives because Israel handed over occupied areas to Lebanese Christian militia under Maj Sa’d Haddad to fight its proxy war. In 1982, Israel launched a full-fledged attack called “Operation Peace for Galilee” to ransack Lebanese Muslims. On September 16 to 18, 1982, the horrific Phalangist militia slaughtered Palestinians in Sabra and Shatila refugee camps present in West Beirut under the aegis of Israeli Defense Minister Aerial Sharon. This massacre of the innocent refugees compelled the Muslims of Lebanon to develop unity in their ranks to cement ties of Islamic fraternity and brotherhood.4
In 1982, Abbas Mussawi established Hezbollah in Lebanon as a resistant force to offset the sway of foreign invaders. While expressing goals of establishing Hezbollah, he said that its aim is to “boot colonialism out of Lebanon, repulse Israel (from southern Lebanon) and set up an Islamic republic”4through armed struggle and social action. The statement of the founder of the organization speak volumes that its aims and objectives were to get rid of outlandish bugs. Hezbollah was alleged to be involved in suicide bombing to counteract the influence and reprehensible role of the overseas interferers that coerced them to withdraw their disgraceful troops. The year of 1980s seen a series of suicide vehicle bombings that instilled horror in the hearts of foreigners.
On April 18, 1983 a pick-up truck loaded with explosives was driven into the American embassy located in the West Beirut. The blast that detonated with a force equal to 2,000 pounds of TNT led to killing of 63 people, including 17 Americans, and injuring of 100, about 40 of whom were Americans. The Islamic Jihad Organization claimed responsibility for the attack that was regarded by some a nom de guerre for Husayn Musawi’s Islamic Amal organization while others assumed that it was a cover name for Hezbollah. On October 23, 1983 two synchronized suicide attacks struck the United States Marines compound and the French MNF headquarters. The explosive-laden vehicle hit on the United States Marines compound that killed 241 and wounded over 100 persons. The FBI experts considered it the biggest non-nuclear blast ever blown up with the force of above 12,000 pounds of trinitrotoluene. The explosive-loaded truck storming the French contingent resulted in 58 casualties. 5
On November 4, 1982, an explosive-packed pickup truck knocked IDF headquarters building near Tyre in Southern Lebanon. The suicide bang led to killing of 28 Israeli soldiers and 32 Lebanese and Palestinians detained by the atrocious Israeli troops. On September 20, 1984, a suicide vehicle thrashed the new American embassy edifice in East Beirut, killing 8 and injuring dozens. On March 10, 1985, a suicide automobile hit IDF convoy near the Israeli town of Metulla that killed 12 and injured 14 persons. The suicide attack campaign was so successful that it inspired secular organizations like the Syrian Socialist National Party to adopt tactic in 1984 and 1985 and Hindu extremist organization LTTE that established its suicide bombing unit called Black Tigers.6
The suicide bombing in Lebanon compelled Israeli troops to withdraw in a gradual process that was completed in 2000. In 2006, eruption of 34-day war between Israel and Hezbollah compelled Israeli forces to lick its wounds. The Hezbollah with a handful of its fighters has become a formidable force to be reckoned with. Withdrawal of Israeli and some other foreign troops eloquently proves that the natives of Lebanon effectively achieved their targets. The western powers allege that Hezbollah is backed by Iran and Syria for their political and regional ends but they should also bear in mind that they have been pampering their illicit brainchild Israel since its transgressive birth on May14, 1948. The Middle East region has become a combatant zone due to presence of rich oil resources on which the industrialized countries have fixed their yellow-eyes. 7
The abovementioned paradigms evidently bear out that sporadic radical incidents perpetrated by the individuals and militant throngs are repercussions of pandemic terrorism carried out by the forces of potent states. Paradoxically, prejudiced media of the powerful states project disgruntle non-state actors as a major threat to the international community and global peace while deliberately turning a blind eye towards unfair atrocities continuously committed by the military of commanding countries. In order to establish lasting peace in the world to ensure survival of global community in this troubled era where weapons of mass destruction are present in the arsenals of several states and non-state actors, the powerful state should behave in responsible way. Power entails responsibility and irresponsible abuse of power like giant results in chaos and commotion. The international warmonger titanics must bear in their indifferent and vindictive minds that liberty is a burning passion that can be temporarily suppressed must cannot be extinguished from the hearts and minds of the freedom loving people. If the extraneous snout pokers having vile tentacles will continue to suck resources of the poor countries by victimizing them then they should prepare themselves to face most violent retaliation in the form of suicide bombings as they are currently facing in certain volatile regions of the world.
