Not since the echoes of WWII Berlin has a capital city struck such uniformed fear into its neighbors. Now the world can revisit this as Pyongyang of North Korea makes strides to have its own chapters in the history books with Kim Jong-Il’s attempt to launch a practice volley at Hawaii.

Pearl Harbor was a surprise and an extreme tragedy which was shadowed only by the terrorist attacks on 9/11/01. Now we have a man possessed by the idea of power which has been bestowed unto him by China and Russia, who protect his every action. North Korea already has tested their ballistic missile yet is now refitting another to be launched 4000 miles towards Hawaii. According to the intelligence on their weapons, the missile will fall 500 miles short into the Pacific Ocean.

This poses two immediate questions. First, what if it actually does reach Hawaii? Second, why would any nation permit another nation to fire a test shot of a nuclear capable weapon at their own people? With these questions come two directives. Republicans must stop showing the world that half of our country is not behind our President in matters of national security. And Russia and China need to back off the United States. Just because our dollar is weak does not mean the men and women of the armed forces are not prepared for all out war.

It is remarkable that in this day and age, the superpowers of the world still feel the need to play cat and mouse while dangling their own people as pawns. World peace may not be the answer, but we can not stand idly by while the war hungry North Koreans prepare to fire against us.
