OJ Simpson and Clarence Stewart are being allowed to petition Nevada Supreme Court to release them pending appeal. From all indication this is rarely successful, but this is celebrity justice.

In a surprising move, the Nevada Supreme Court is hearing arguments from attorneys representing both OJ Simpson, and his friend Clarence Stewart, petitioning the court to release them, pending appeal hearings.

The attorneys are being allowed thirty minutes to argue their case. Based on the Associated Press (AP), this request to hear oral arguments in a case involving the issue of bond and the likely success of such an appeal are both rare.

OJ is currently serving a 33 year sentence, after he was convicted of kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon in a confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers, who Simpson accused of having his personal property in their possession. Stewart is serving a far lesser sentence based on a plea deal he accepted from the prosecutors.

This is rare according to The Associated Press, but unless we forget we are talking about OJ Simpson, who walked away from two counts of possible murder convictions, even though from all that occurred, the police chase, his history of abuse, suggested he would have been found guilty. He walked away then, the there is all likelihood his luck will make him walk free again.

Ron Goldman’s father, Fred, will not be happy, if this happens. OJ is trouble-prone however, because he has never learned to go away quietly, he is always talking, and keeping himself in trouble, and in the news. He loves the television cameras.
