Obama on universal healthcare.
When President Obama was asked whether or not private healthcare insurance companies would be able to compete with his universal healthcare, this is what he said:
“I think private insurers should be able to compete, they do it all the time. If you think about it, UPS and Fedex are doing just fine. Right? No, they are. It’s the post office that’s always in trouble.”
So, I had to ask: Huh? Is it me, or did he just make the perfect argument against his universal healthcare. After all, the post office is a government run agency, and if they can’t get a letter from one place to another, what makes the president think that universal healthcare is going to be able to take care of sick people? I’m just sayin’…
The other thing he said, at the “town meeting” he attended in Portsmouth, New Hampshire was:
“I hope we will talk with each other and not over each other, where we do disagree. Let’s disagree over things that are real—not these wild misrepresentations that bear no resemblance to anything that’s actually been proposed.”
Now, correct me if I’m wrong, but these “wild misrepresentations” that he speaks of—aren’t they just proud Americans expressing their opinions? I believe that’s called freedom of speech, guaranteed to us by the First Amendment. The unmitigated gall of those town hall folks, questioning the debacle called universal healthcare. Nancy Pelosi did an op-ed piece where she called our passionate questioning “un-American.”
I’ll show you un-American, Nancy—LOOK IN THE MIRROR! I know, your Botox ridden face is scary, but reality is sometimes scary. And, the reality is that the Washington politicians don’t care about their constituents, they only care about their power, because they’re not going to have to suffer with the same universal healthcare that they’re trying to ram down our throats.
If you have not made your voice be heard, now is the time. Do not sit by quietly thinking that someone else will speak up. You need to call your congresspersons and your senators and tell them to forget about universal healthcare—the overwhelming majority of Americans do NOT want it.
