Tackling the issue of support for the British National Party.

It’s amazing how history repeats itself. Frequently we find ourselves reliving the lives of people in the past, or see people doing the same. However, what we fail to do is learn from the mistakes.

In the 20th century alone, there were two major events that shaped the way the whole world viewed equality and freedom. The first being the holocaust created by the Nazis during the Second World War, and the second being the actions of the KKK in America and other countries during the sixties. Both of these horrific groups portrayed an ideology of hate, unfairness and segregation, and it was only until it was almost too late, that the people, the public and the politicians got involved. Perhaps if we as a society had acted quicker, many deaths could have been prevented.

We look back at these events as if they were a million years ago and that all memory of the effects they had and still have is gone. Perhaps this was society’s biggest mistake the first two time’s around. Again we as a society may be on the verge of experiencing the same events, maybe not on the scale of the holocaust or the white supremacy actions of the Ku Klux Klan, but any infringements on people’s rights and liberties must be prevented.

In today’s world, there is one group which are prepared to bring back these infringements. They are the British National Party (BNP). A political party whose real motives may be hidden but their beliefs will never truly change. Their main polices involves deporting every immigrant living in Britain and stopping the asylum process altogether.

Moreover, their anti-religious outlook is frankly disgusting, as one Guardian reporter discovered in an undercover documentary filmed for the BBC. One BNP member said when asked about Muslims in the community: “He would like to stand outside of any Mosque with a machine gun and shoot everyone who exits”.

When people exist with these views in society, how can we ever hope to progress? With a party who breeds these beliefs and encourages racist behaviour, how can we ever hope to end inequality? With a party who in this lifetime could win seats in parliament and influence policy which affects every single person in this country, I ask only these questions: Why isn’t anyone doing anything about it? Why aren’t politicians investigating and preventing this? Why haven’t the BNP been stopped?

If we put what I have just said into perspective we cannot let history repeat itself again. The KKK was a fraternity group. Members mean influence and influence means power. The Nazis were a political party, parties can win seats, seats mean influence, influence means power. When like-minded people get together, this is when the damage can be the most destructive. Let us not eradicate social interaction and political meetings, but let us stop these views form being expressed and passed on. With action we can stop all organisations from breeding inequality and racial segregation. With action we can stop the BNP!

You’ve seen what the Nazis did, and you’ve seen what the KKK did. Do You want it to happen again?
