Palestine or Israel? Find out in this article.
There is ongoing conflict in Israel. The Palestinians and Israelis are fighting over territories near Israel. These areas include the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and the Golan Heights. These areas are currently in dispute. We must find peace to end this conflict.
Palestine was originally a separate state. Palestine included all of Israel and Jordan, and parts of Saudi Arabia and Syria. In 1917, The British issued the Balfour Declaration. It stated to make a separate state for Jews, in Israel. Israel was now a separate state. In 1947, the United Nations partitioned areas of Palestine. It was divided into Israel, Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, West Bank, and Trans Jordan. Syria and Jordan received the Trans Jordan Area. All of Israel belonged to the Jews. Palestine had only West Bank, Golan Heights, and Gaza Strip remaining. In 1967, Palestine united with six other Arab nations and attacked Israel. In six days, the war was over. Israel had won, and took over even more areas of land. Palestine still controlled Gaza Strip, Golan Heights, and West Bank, but very smaller than what they were. Palestine also controlled East Jerusalem, but Palestine wanted to have refugees from the war to return, but Israel did not want that. Instead they continue expanding settlements into the Palestine areas. The conflict just continued on.
Israel was created very early in time. Jews inhabited the area, and it was a holy area for Judaism, Islam, and Christianity. It was made as a separate Jewish state after the Balfour Declaration. The Palestinians also wanted the territory. What Israel wants is borders of Palestinian area with security from Palestinian terrorist attacks, including the Hamas bombing runs. They also want enough control of Israel to stop attacks from terrorists. They want to control all of Jerusalem, and dislike the attempt of Palestinian refugees returning to their homelands. They are willing have the military leave West Bank, Gaza Strip, and Golan Heights if all terrorist attacks were stopped.
Attacks of terrorists and extremists are the main problem of the conflict. When a compromise, treaty, or agreement is made, terrorists and extremists end it. It is very hard to find a working proposal.
Palestinians believe that they are not free people because Israeli soldiers stop them at checkpoints through routes to cities. This means that the Palestinians need to get the approval of Israeli soldiers so that they could get home. Also, the Israelis provide less water and supplies for the Palestinians. The Palestinians want to govern themselves and have their own land. They want a separate Palestinian state (country) with the same borders as were in 1967, Palestinian control of East Jerusalem, ending Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory, and Freedom of Palestinian refugees to return to their homeland. Basically, the Palestinians want all or nothing. Palestine wants their land back so now they have started terrorist groups (like Hamas) to kill innocent Israeli civilians. Palestine will only stop doing this until they get the land that they propose.
In Conclusion, Palestine will keep on bombing the Israelis until they get the land that they lost in 1967. So in our peace treaty we want the Israel to give West Bank to the Palestinians so they could stop killing innocent civilians.
