Millions of polish people marvel at the state of their democracy in which the government spends 40 million zloty for new Catholic temple while most of ordinary people live under poverty line.
Situation in Poland today is not very different from that in entire Europe during middle ages.
After almost 50 years of communist oppression, this country has to face another type of oppression, this time religious one.
It is nothing new to people who are thought never to question the authority of The Roman Catholic Church or the Pope but there is new generation of poles who are learning to think freely. Can they tolerate this type of injustice ?
I just took part in an online discussion about it operated out of Poland and what I saw was just one resounding No!
It was expressed by over 1000 voices which was probably the most heated debate ever there. People threw insults at those very few that were defending the temple project.
Even practicing Catholics opposed this. In the meantime, their country faces massive unemployment and extremely low wages for many who do have a work.
Why Vatican does not pay for this?
This is the question most of them ask, the time is ripe for new Martin Luther to put his theses on the door of Belvedere, which is polish counterpart of the White House.
