Our spoiled politicians.

Everyday, in some bar somewhere in the country, someone is bemoaning the government. More often they’re begrudging the terrible ineptness of the delusional congressman that we have to let make decisions for our country. Though they are amongst the most educated affluent men in the country, our senators and representatives do the people of this country a great injustice. We must hold the people that represent us to a much higher standard of work and conduct. Civil servitude has become a joke in this country because of the ego, greed, and complacency of people we depended on most to govern us.

The politicians who represent us in this country live a life of power and privilege that most of us will never know. They earn millions of dollars derived solely from the prestige of the offices they hold in a government that our predecessors and forefathers worked so hard and sacrificed so much for. They seem to have forgotten that their sole purpose is to serve the people of this country collectively, not just the ones they like or the ones they owe favors to. Recently the nation has found out that one our most powerful financial leaders can’t even correctly file his taxes. Whether it’s was a mistake or not, does it not give a little insight into his character? Why do we vote for these people? Why do we allow them to gives us ultimatums, and a choice between two evils? This is a country of three-hundred-million people and I dare to believe that there is at least one among us who is competent enough to govern in a manner that we could be proud of.

This is not a question of political philosophy, of socialism or capitalism. This is a question of competent governance. I don’t honestly believe that there are bad governments, only bad leaders. I like to think that what makes this country good is not our political or economic system, but rather the character of our people. We have let the opinions of our condescending leaders rot the values and moral fabric of our country. We’ve let them get away with what ever they want because we’ve been too lazy call them on their moronic behavior. If I haven’t made it clear, I will say it again; they have to answer to us, not through elected senator or the House of Representatives, but directly to us. Governments should be in fear of its people, not people in fear of their governments.
