My opinion of the outcome of this election.
I am a 51 year old white female born in Pennsylvania, raised and lived most of my life in New York now living in New Mexico and I never thought in my life time I would see us the “American people” elect a black man to be our President. I am so ecstatic waking up this morning and knowing what we have accomplished is beyond my expectations. It is a great day for America. That finally in the year 2008 we can rise above the senseless bigotry that has plagued our country for years. That we came together and voted the best man for the highest position in the United States of America. That the people realized what was at stake and were able to rise above and for the good of our nation did the right thing.
I am so grateful that we as a nation can now start to climb out of the deep dark hole that the Bush Administration has put us in. Working together as a nation will once again give us the hopes and dreams that each and every American wants for their lives. This is a great day historically for America; we will now be able to bring unity and pride back to the United States of America. President Obama will be able to bring other nations that Bush has helped alienate us from back to being our allies. This nation will now start day by day to get back on track where we “The United States of America” can stand tall and proud once again and other countries will start to look up to us as they once did eight years ago.
The comedians out there will suffer due to lack of material because there really is not a whole lot that you can make fun of when it comes to Barack Obama because now we will have a President that is intelligent, poised, young, vibrant that can also thank God speak proper English.
To the people who did not vote for Barack Obama, McCain’s picking of Sarah Palin was part of his down fall, but I have to say with all honesty I thank him from the bottom of my heart. For the people who believed this day would never happen because they didn’t want it to, due to their prejudice “to bad.”
Finally in electing a black man this will hopefully bring people of all nationalities to learn to live together with the equality that each and every human being deserves and because of this it will be a much better place to live. May God Bless the United States of America!

Great article, Janet. Keep writing. You have a knack for it.
Although I’m not American, my eyes were brimming as a black man made history as the first man of United States (also this world). We’re lucky being witnesses of this great moment. Keep writing, Janet.
I can’t believe we voted in a black man either!!!!!
YES, WE DID IT & YES WE CAN….
I loved this article. I can’t believe this is my oldest daughter’s thinking and writing. I am so proud of her.
I, too was elated when Barack Obama won the election. This was the greatest moment in American History! Now, we, all, have to pray for him. May God protect him and his family. May He send His Angels to surround them, at all times. Pray, also, for Obama to keep his promises, so that he may be elected for a second term, God willing.
