The Release of Libyan man convicted over the bombing of the American plane over Lockerbie was the most despicable act any law abiding government should have allowed to happen. I can understand why Americans are so riled because blood has been exchanged for oil here.

Britain may deny vehemently any suggestions and insinuations that there was a deal behind the release of Megrahi who was convicted to life imprisonment over the bombing Lockerbie, but a critical analysis of the sequence of events will clearly point to the fact that the British who have since the release, chosen to tread a fine line on this matter are just covering up their under hand dealings on these issues.

The British government under PM Gordon Brown for instance claim they have no influence over the Scottish courts and yet we know that 10 Downing Street has the last say on any matter that affects the British Isle. A matter as serious as releasing Megrahi could not have been decided upon unilaterally by the Scottish authorities without an input from Powers that be in 10 Downing Street! This is so naked a fact that any average mind can see.

That said, it must be acknowledged that releasing a man whom a competent court found guilty of engaging in a gruesome terrorist activity after only a few years in jail is grossly implausible and makes us believe blood has been exchanged for oil. The son of Libyan President spilled the beans to the media when he made the world know that trade considerations between Britain and Libya were behind the release.

Secondly, the reaction of the Libyan leader in which he praised the bold actions of PM Gordon Brown in sanctioning the release of the Megrahi increases our suspicions even the more. There is clear evidence to make us believe that the relationship between Britain and Libya has thawed since the Libyan government allowed the trial and conviction of Megrahi to proceed to the publicly acclaimed logical conclusion. The relatives of the dead where relieved when they believed that justice had finally been done soon after Megrahi was convicted and the victims compensated in billions of Dollars. But to have the culprit released on some obnoxious grounds such as “compassionate reasons” remains deeply disheartening to those who were lured to believe justice had been done.

Over 270 passengers died over Lockerbie for no good cause! They were mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, grand mothers and grand fathers while some of the dead were unborn children being carried in their mothers’ woumbs. The very act of killing them for reasons they never imagined was the most painful and senseless episode of blood letting of our time. If the man who did this crime is dying away in jail because of protrate cancer, that should be conceived as part of the divine punishment for which no man should have interfered with. In any case, his death would have fulfilled the dictates of his term of conviction which clearly states that he must die in jail. Releasing him before he was pronounced dead will always remain a crime which will suck those responsible for opening the gates of the jail where Megrahi was incaserated into the bigger picture of the death of the passengers who died in the skies of Lockerbie in 1988 aboard the PANAM Airline.

I hope an independent medical report will confirm that Megrahi is truly terminally ill in the first place, otherwise I have this feeling that the whole sickness issue could have been trumped up and the more I think about it, the more I get persuaded to believe blood has been exchanged for oil in this under-hand deal between the British and Libyan governments.
