The vote on proposition eight is still being counted, it’s too close to call at the moment. While the outcome is still unknown, it’s clear there are many who want to deny rights to others and I don’t know why.
Proposition 8 has yet to be settled, the vote too close to call, but it’s clear there are many who want to revoke the rights of gays that wish to marry in California.
I often hear arguments, homosexuality is immoral, and accepting gay marriage somehow invalidates a marriage between a man and a woman. With the current statistics showing higher then 50% of marriages end in divorce, it’s hard to hold heterosexual marriage in such high regard. Instead of worrying about what gay marriage would do to the state of matrimony, maybe we should investigate why so many marriages are failing.
The majority of debates about homosexuality involve God and the bible. People state, “God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.”, “Homosexuality is a sin and homosexuals are dammed.” Never do I hear that standing in judgment of others is also a sin. If you believe, homosexuality is wrong and those that engage in it won’t gain entrance into heaven, then believe that in silence.
How can a person can look at the world, the economy, war, hunger, global warming, violence, health care, and devote so much money and time on an issue that is far less damaging/ We are talking about people who want the right to show their love, as others do. Aren’t there other issues more pressing, issues that have a greater effect on the world?
People are free to believe what they want, but when a group of human beings, deny another group rights, how can they stand on the grounds of morality?
“Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. “
