An open letter to our elected officials. send it to your elected officials if you are fed up.
Dear Senator,
It seems apparent that you will be supporting the current health care bill being considered in Congress. I am not writing to change you mind, your mind was made up before you even read the bill. I would just like to know why?
Surely you will say that it is our responsibility to provide for those who cannot afford insurance. This is a valid point and i would support you if this bill would actually do that, but it doesn’t. I would also prefer to give my charities to whom and what i pleased. Instead people like you are forcibly taking my money away from me because you think you know how to spend my money wiser than I do.
But I digress. Why are you supporting this bill? Is it because you are a Democrat? Are you being pressured against your better judgement? Or do you really think that this 1,500 page behemoth of a bill will actually work? If that is the case, with all due respect you might want to consider firing all of your staff.
Let’s look at the other amazing failure of the Federal Governments attempt at health care reform. Medicare=A bloated wasteful bureaucracy wrecked with fraud that is near bankruptcy. Is there something there that you like?
How are we going to pay for this? Last I heard this bill is going to cost over 800 billion dollars!! I’m no economic expert but if we are already in a huge deficit and borrowing millions of dollars every day from China then we should probably be scaling back on spending instead of adding billions more to the problem. You’ve been in Washington for a very long time, I just thought I would remind you what common sense sounds like.
Oh right! you’re going to “cut out corruption” in Medicare. I feel better now. Like I said before Medicare is riddled with fraud and something does need to be done about it. But shouldn’t this have been done 20 years ago? Now you expect me to believe that the federal government is going to cut out 800 billion in medicare to fund this bill? Are you high?
I once believed you were an independent thinker. That you cared more about your constituents than your party loyalty. I was obviously wrong. I made the mistake of voting for you in the past. Rest assured I will not make the same mistake twice.
Sincerely,
Disgruntled voter.
