Seriously?
Maybe it’s time for us to all stop kidding ourselves. The signs have been there for some time, but we have done our best to pretend they aren’t there. Sarah Palin is going to run for President of these United States. No joke. In case anyone has failed to notice, she jumped down awhile back as governor of Alaska, and is currently in the midst of a huge media campaign. New book, appearances all over the damn place, and her face is everywhere. TV, magazines, newspapers. Cute, coy little answers every time someone asks her about the presidency. God help us, folks… this is really going to happen.
This is the point where we wake up, right? Or someone will shout out that we’re on Scare Tactics. Anything but this; Have we just jumped head first into a political Twilight Zone? This is Sarah Palin!
I realize the Republican party needs a shot in the arm somewhere. This country is now controlled by democrats, because the GOP has been without real leadership for some time now. There isn’t a single person at this moment who appears capable of steeping up and assuming leadership of the party. (except for good old Rush Limbaugh, of course) But has desperation made them all collectively stupid? There are a few different ways this could work out, and I’m trying to look at this from a conservative point of view. (bear in mind, I consider myself an Independant voter; I lean heavily to the left, but I do have some conservative views. Unlike most Americans, party lines do not dictate my views. I would vote for a republican president if I thought they were the best candidate.)
Scenario 1
She recieves the Republican nomination. You have to figure she’ll be at a drastic disadvantage, because America as a whole realizes the woman is borderline retarded. There is a fairly good chance that if the economy doesn’t pick up, and the health care plan doesn’t pan out, there will be an anti Obama sentiment similar to the anti- Bush wave that helped propel Obama into office in the first place. The republicans ought to, in that case, be able to regain the presidency with a reasonable candidate.
They should learn from the Democrats. They threw us a candidate with no experience to speak of. (and who’s inexperience is glaring right now) But they also knew that America had had enough of Bush. And so we got “It’s time for a change!” America didn’t care what the change was, only that it wasn’t more of the same.
Running Palin, though…. her innumerable weaknesses would, in all liklihood, be enough to overcome and disadvantages Obama might find in seeking re-election. Can you imagine her and Obama in a debate? Good lord…. it would be a massacre. So there you have scenario 1…
Scenario 2:
Here’s the most frightening possibility; she runs… and wins. As much of a long shot as it it, it could happen. They pitch her as a down home American, shy away from the ‘politician’ angle. Paint her just as cute and likeable as possible. Ride the anti Obama sentiment (things would have to get really bad over the next couple of years). I think the key would be to do what the party is doing right now… feed her to the democratic wolves. Let them chew on her for a while, effectively making a martyr of her. She stands firm, with her solid little conservative beliefs, strong but vulnerable. If they spin it right, this could happen. It’s a slim chance, but realistic enough that we should all be trembling with fear.
Is this really someone we want running our country? I wouldn’t want this idiot runnung my lawnmower! Is the republican perty so desperate that they’re willing to compromise our very safety by putting what amounts to an inferior human being in office? Did they learn nothing from the George W. mess? This is why the GOP is in a shambles. Poor leadership making piss poor decisions. If you guys want to fix your party, here’s a hint… stop trying to put imbiciles in the oval office.

Whenever I hear here name I still think of “Monty Python’s Flying Circus” and nothing else matters…
Thanks for sharing.
Yup. They’re drunk.
please, don’t even think it. but it could happen.
In these days everything could happen.
Please ask Sarah one question at her next interview: WHY did you quit your Governor’s position?
I’m not against Sarah Palin as a person, politician, or anything else. I don’t even know her and I don’t want to know her. What I do know about her is that she is “REPUBLICAN”. Check your recent history. Republicans always have more questions than answers and always have more problems than solutions. Teaching a person how to swim to save their life is a good thing- depending on what you ask them to carry on their back while they do it. If you REALLY want a female George Bush in the White House then help her run for President. If you are in support of a President Sarah Palin- then do this. Find all of the people that voted Democrat last election and find out how many voted against Palin and not for Obama.
