Why I Think Socialism and Social Health care is a Bad Idea.
To start off, I would like to use quote, source unknown, but it sets off my article nicely,”When one half of a country thinks that the other half will support it, and the other half realizes it shouldn’t have to support them, that is a formula for the end of a country.”
I like this quote. People will only put up with the government taking their money and giving it to the poor for so long. I agree it is sad that there is poverty stricken people in our country (the Unites States) but there are shelters run all over the country. Our government should not be involved in these programs. Yes, people in extreme poverty should get aid, but the government does NOT need to be involved.
Our government is in an enormous amount of debt. Social health care will only worsen this predicament. I agree that people need health care. But it is not the responsibility of our government to provide it. Even though Obama says it will not raise taxes, do you truly think it won’t? Providing health care for millions of people and not raising taxes a cent? I do not think so. Common sense would tell us this is impossible. Money cannot come from nowhere.
My other argument with social health care is its lack of just that, care. Many people in European countries are having to come to the U.S. to get medical care because their own governments deemed it “unprofitable” to treat them. Do you really trust your health to the government? An example is you are seventy-five years old. You just came down with a terrible disease that will kill you if not treated. There is however say a highly experimental procedure that can cure you. The government may evaluate you situation and find it is not “profitable” to keep you alive, so they just let you die. To add to this I have friend whose grandfather is from the Netherlands, where this system is instituted. It takes him two months to get an appointment with a specialist! and after that he has to wait another two months for the appointment! As an american I find this outrageous, but to someone from the Netherland this is normal. Don’t let this become normal in the U.S.! Vote against social health care!
