Socialism never has worked and certainly won’t work for us.
Many people don’t understand socialism and its consequences. You can get a good understanding about socialism by studying its history and the governments who have tried to use it.
Socialism in its simplest form is a govenmant or any other organazation controlling means of production and the distribution of goods, and imports and exports. Socialism can also be taken to another level of control of businesses and its distribution of funds as a more egalitarian method of compensation based and the full product of the laborer. Karl Marx proposed the theory of socialism in the late 19th century, and it has stayed a theory since, not a proven method. Many different governments and organizations have tried the theory of socialism and it either causes them to collapse within or leads to oppresses people and a poor economy. If you take a look at the people who have used socialism you can see that it just not work, it won’t work for them and it certainly won’t work for us. Like I mentioned in an earlier article A Part of Something Big, were headed down a path to socialism, not just headed towards socialism where speeding down a one-way road to socialism. We need to stand up as a nation and turn around and head back to where we rightfully belong as the greatest country this world has ever seen.
When this great country was founded our Fore Fathers had not intended us to go down this path and I’m sure as citizens of this great country you don’t want it to fall apart like every other country that has tried the theory socialism, it just won’t work.
God Bless America

Collin Houchen: This second article you wrote is as good as your first one. You have become quite an excellent writer and “Deep Thinker.”
Surely, Surely, All of this pontificating (look this word up) comes from your Grandmother!!!!
Great job, loved every word. So true even though some people don’t want to hear it. Keep up the good fight.
What a great role model you have become for other Americans your age.
Keep up the studies on politics, someday, America may need you to help her make better choices and to stay true to her path.
Good job Collin. Really good insight.
Wow, you did it again. Good points and a good understanding. If this really interests you…please keep it up. You could definitley become a leader of the next voting generation. Getting the youth interested and involved is a vital importance. Thanks
Your narrow definition of socialism is only valid to those failed Stalinist style regimes which are quite out of line with what socialism, at best, can be.
Democratic Socialism as a model is working very well in Sweden – socialism can and does work when implemented in a more liberal form!
There are many countries with “free-market” economies that are poor. Ask yourself why is this? Could it be simply because one man’s wealth is another man’s poverty…
Socialism in it’s simplest form is, not about state-ownership, but fundamentally about a fairer distribution of wealth. None of which means that someone who works hard shouldn’t be rewarded for that, just that his wealth shouldn’t be predicated upon injustices.
Ok…..”Zeus” I see your point here but if your an Ameican citizen you with understand that with a free-market economy we have became the worlds greatest nation. And also you would understand that socialism of any kind will only bring us as a nation down further than we are now. And what I said about us being the worlds greatest nation, that is quickly going out the window because of who we have setting behind the desk at the Oval Office. And yes there are poor countrys out there with the free-market system, but take a look at their government and their industry. If any one out there is wondering, It’s not all Obama’s fault, its all our fault as a citizen and our governments fault. And as a nation we need to change that.
Thanks for your comment “zeus”, am looking forward to another.
Why are you people praising this argument? I am not saying I disagree with the idea that socialism is horrible for us as a nation, but this didn’t have a single fact in the whole article. He didn’t cite a single country to suffer under a socialist flag, didn’t show any kind of statistics for a drop in national production or ability, didn’t do anything but give a weak explanation of socialism and then repeat over and over again that we need to run the other way. What we need right now is an educated public to make educated choices. Not emotional fools peddling empty fears.
A small note on this article. Do not confuse the word Socialism of 100 years ago with today’s central parties. Totally free markets lead to excessive abuses and crisis. Total control leads to a failed system like the USSR. However, as history shows in most aspects, the right solution is somewhere in the middle. The UK for example have a free economy, and is pretty much the capitalist centre of Europe. However there is some provision for the people. Health is offered free to everybody, and there is a series of very good benefits for people who lose their jobs. At least a level of social care means that people can have a doctor to see and a roof over their head. A stock market with no control, and “futures” that add up to more than 10 times the GDP of the planet, are never going to end well …and they did not in the last credit cranch.
Let us not be extreme towards the one side or the other. There are positives in both sides. Take the best, and make a better system. We do not need to demonise something because we do not like it or because we do not understand it.
There are other capitalist countries that combine social care with free market. Maybe the US should have a look at it. We blame commnism for its failures, but looking at the New York Stock Exchange I do not see any success story the last few months.
Socialism in moderation results in the happiest countries in the worlds, Denmark and Sweden.
You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. True Socialists would be offended that you would even try to compare our status today with socialism. Just because governments of the past have called themselves socialists, doesn’t mean they actually were. Socialism is the idea that the economy is completely non-for-profit. Obama’s plans include enlarging corporate America. COMPLETE OPPOSITES.
Not to mention that if the media didn’t censor so much, we’d know just how more advanced Cuba is than the U.S.
This article has provoked conversation and that in itself is to be praised. good job.
great article, great argument. if someone wants to get anywhere in life they have to earn it. lets not spoon feed those who are lazy, insubordinate, and extremely ugly (just kidding).
hey malissa just for the record: obama intends to offer health care to those who cant afford insurance on the taxpayers dollars, intends to tax the rich more, and offer government run agencies that make sure people get payed equally (not fairly).
the last time i checked socialism is government supremacy in an area by absorbing and redistributing money. if those arent socialistic policies, tell me what is.
Wow Collin I am glad I read your article. Your words were thaught provoking. I know that too many Americans just take the medias word for it. Also just looking at a politition that gives them a warm fuzzy feeling without questioning him or her and accepting what they say to be honest or true will hurt our country. As well we are finding out. I knew this was going to happen and I Prayed it wouldnt but, here ya go. The problem is there is not a good middle ground because of the extream rt. and lt. They wont allow it. We cant seem to stop the radical swinging from happening. I do not want to live under the social right. I lived in Australia for a time in the late 70’s the socalled free medical care was very lacking. If you are ill do you really want to have to see a reagional clinic who will determin if you need to receive aditional care and the waiting list thing is not a rumor it is real. You could end up in a cridical situation before you receive the care you needed months before, when you first saught out the help. There is a better answer but it is not medicade for everyone. I work for the school district I dont make a lot as I am a nurse ast. I have to settle for what insurance they offer my family. They are self insured so they always look for the least expensive and most profitable plan. They have droped plans 5 or 6 times sence I have worked for the district here in TX. I have been here 11 yrs.Do you realy think that they wont drop the coverage we now have to the socalled free medical plan offered by Obama? Which I currently pay into from my check now as it is. How much will thay take from me to give me and my family medioker care? Along with those that dont and wont pay into it at all. I am hoping that those who seem to think the radical rt. have ALL the answers will stop ranting and actualy reasurch the hystory of our beloved country. Dont claim to have the answer without knowing our past. Stop just leaving it in someone elses hands You voted and they are running amuck. We have to let them know we don’t take there word for it. They have to show us good results. Or we will vote you out till we find someone who will actualy listen to us and do there best to serve this nation as a whole.
