We need better Border Control to stop the Illegal Immigrants from taking over our Country.
A few other things that could be done to keep the Illegal Immigrants out, and discourage the other ones from wanting to come to our Country;
Stop enforcing the Illegal Immigrants requests and demands. They came to Our Country, as it IS. We should not have to “change” things in Our Country to please Them.
Stop allowing these individuals to come to our hospitals with no Social Security card/number. The ones who do present a Social Security number, it needs to be verified and validated. (Including checking for possible Identity Theft) They must also have to pay for their hospital/Doctor visits, and not receive free services. If anyone should receive free services in the U.S.A., it should be the Americans, not foreigners.
Stop allowing these individuals to enter their children into our schools with no Social Security Numbers, Birth Certificates and all other pertinent information.
Run Back Ground Checks on them when they apply for a job or a loan. DENY them the job or loan when it is discovered they do not have a Valid Social Security Number and are not CITIZENS of the U.S.A.
Stop giving them FREE money and Business Loans to come to our Country and open their own business. This money should be given to the AMERICANS to open businesses. Keep the money in the American’s pockets and in the U.S.A. (As opposed to the foreigners pockets who are sending half of it back to their hometown in their Country)
Stop giving them our Disability and Retirement Money. It does not matter how many years they worked in their Country. Let them draw Disability and Social Security from their own Country ONLY. Not from our Country, the money that the Americans have spent their entire lives contributing to, only to have it near extinct by the time they are retirement age.
Stop businesses from hiring foreigners simply because their customers are demanding it, requesting it, or are dissatisfied. If they (the customers) cannot speak English, that is their problem, not ours. Learn to speak English or go home.
At the rate it is going, Americans will be the minority before too long, and possibly be extinct once millions get tired of the ways here and move to other Countries (look out Canada, here we come!). Can you see explaining to your grandchildren in 30 years why you are one of the only American families left in the United States of America?
The sooner that Congress takes care of this problem, this issue, the sooner the American people can take America back!

Another great subject- I agree and add-. I understand many of these people are simply searching for something better, but some are here to bring violence and drugs. Still, no matter what the reason- how long will America be the “better place.” What will happen when hospitals continue to close because they are overrun with illegal immigrant patients that never pay. What will happen when all these illegal immigrants grow old & can no longer do the “jobs” Americans supposedly wont do? Will we watch them die from starvation OR put millions of illegal immigrants on the system and let the Americans that actually paid into the system do without? What will happen when the land and resources are ravaged from overpopulation?
The answer to these questions are simple- America will become no better than the places illegal immigrants are trying to escape.
When Americans go to other countries and rape it of its resources, liberals are outraged. Yet, they seem to be willing and eager to allow everyone else to rape our country.
OKay, first off let me just say I’m not a liberal. I just like a good debate. I hope you don’t get offended or anything:
Where are your roots? I don’t mean you personally. I mean your great great greats … what country are they from? I was born in America, but I’m pretty sure that WAY back somewhere when my family was coming over from Italy and Greece – SOMEONE was not perfectly legal. Come on. Be realistic. Immigrants that come to work are not the problem, it’s the ones who run from legal systems. Killers and murders.
How funny that you talk about jobs. We all know the procedure: interview, qualify, hire. Maybe those who claim their job was “taken by an illegal” just couldn’t cut it. Who knows.
And just so you know, you really should look at the maps. AMERICA consists of North and South. So you really should specify because TECHNICALLY you are talking about Mexico, Central and South America as well. Sorry, I’m a stickler for that stuff.
Like I said, hope you’re not offended or anything, I just love a good debate. =]

Speirs – I am not offended at all. I actually like a good debate, also. (It is the ones that get down right ugly with name calling and insults that I dislike)
But anyway, about the jobs – I do mean illegal immigrants being hired at locations. This is a true story that has been in the local newspapers and on television http://news21blog.org/tag/howard-industries/

This was nearly 600 jobs that could have been held by Americans.

Legal immigrants is one thing SD Speirs. If you read it more closely, she said illegal immigrants.
If their fore fathers had come to this country before it became America, we wouldn’t be having this article wrote and we wouldn’t be debating it, now would we.
We/most of us were born and bred here, as our parents, grandparents, great grandparents, great great grand parents, and I can go back further with mine. my ancestors were indians. So I belong here, how about you SD Speirs??

The 2000 census reported 28 million legal first generation immigrants- this was the largest amount in the history of the U.S. Since then it has continued to steadily increase…. 2006 counted 37.5 legal immigrants. So, it is not like the country is not allowing immigration. Despite the large numbers of legal immigrants there are still between 12 and 30 million illegal immigrants. There is really no way of knowing exactly how many so this is the census best guess. Add the numbers together and it is unsustainable over time.
There are specific reasons the legal immigration is limited to a certain amount of persons. One is overpopulation effects. Think about it this way- Take New Mexico for ex. There is lots of land there, but the limited resources (food & water for ex) creates a shortfall where by the land is not capable of providing for its inhabitants. Overpopulation of the U.S would fall under the same basic principle.
Legal immigration is what keeps the economy running and diverse. Of course, most all of us come from a genealogy of immigrants. You make a very good point there. However, the laws, population, environment, etc were all very different when our ancestors came to the US. The first law related to immigration in 1790 allowed any free white person with good moral standing who had lived on US soil for two years to become a citizen. It wasn’t until 1921 that Congress passed the Emergency Quota Act because of the explosion in the census report- thus numbering how many immigrants would gain citizenship. Immigration laws have continued to change in reflex to census, economy, nationality etc.. So, it is a little unrealistic to compare 4000 Italians in 1900 to 500,000 Mexicans in 2006.

Great article. Just a simple comment that if America doesn’t wake up soon and stop this illegal immigration this will not be the country that we love anymore. I have nothing against legal immigration, you can keep a check on that, it’s the open border we won’t stop you immigration that will eventually bring us down.

i was born here and my parents are not illegal immigrants. we need to stop illegal immigrants because they are taking over the U.S. they got mad at the U.S. for invading mexico and making them slaves and taking their land. Now they are invading U.S. and taking our land, and killing our people. They want rights and freedom then maybe they should follow are laws first. You cant be a american citizen if you dont do it the right way. They need to either live in mexico or come here the right way…. heck why dont the mexicans just sell us mexico and we can all be the U.S. and then no one can complain. They get their rights and we get more land. Just stop comming here illegally and then complaining you dont get your rights, because well duh why give some one who breaks the law rights and freedom….
Don’t get me started on this subject. This country is going nuts and it hurts to witness it. We put up border guards and they try to do their job, and they end up going to prison for doing their job. Some illegal immigrants commit crime in this country, we put them in jail and then released right back on the street, instead of being sent back were they came from. Anybody who knows anything, knows our Social Security system is running lean and will dry up eventually. Why give illegal immigrants something the did not put something into? Ask your liberals that… Oh, they have goofy answers. Our country is being taken over by everyone from the outside and the, I think, silent majority sits on it’s butts and lets it happens. Have you noticed that we do not demand anyone to speak English? I could go on and on, so I will quit. I am making you a friend. You are welcome to do the same with me.

I don’t like illegal immigrants as well..not the people, but what they are doing. They do not contribute to their communities at all. When crimes happen in their neighborhoods and they witnessed it, would they go report to the police? ofcourse not and why not? because they are afraid of the police. They are letting crimes happen and they won’t do anything about it. When I 1st came to the US (yes, I was not an US citizen, I just became one legally), I went to the high school here and realized that many of the illegal immigrants can’t even speak English and don’t even bother learning the language. I was surprised that many of people here in the US doesn’t speak English. I learn English before I came here so that I could speak to the people but instead I have to learn another new language now? isn’t that unfair? They even look at me funny when I told them I can’t speak their language. Well, that is my experience dealing with illegal immigrants, and I personally do not enjoy it. -_-
