Swine Flu is a media scare. My opinion.
The swine Flu epidemic, which recently started getting famous around the world is just a big media scare. Each year, an average of 35 000 Americans die from the regular seasonal Flu. The swine Flu has not killed any Americans to this day. Only one person died from swine Flu in the United states, and he was a mexican toddler who had just gotten back from his vacation in mexico. In Mexico, it is suspected that hundreds have died from the swine Flu, but also that over 10 000 people have gotten it. This is about a 1% death rate in a second world country. Aids alone killed aproximately 18000 in the US in 2006. I won’t even get into cancer deaths. No other country then Mexico has declared any deaths related to swine Flu. Many people have gotten swine Flu and already recovered from it without any hospitalization, only antibiotics to help fight off the virus. Although it is very contagious, this virus hasn’t shown to be any more dangerous that the seasonal Flu. I don’t deny that it has the potential to kill more people, but i believe it won’t kill anymore than the seasonal Flu. I do recommend precautions are taken to avoid spreading/catching this virus, but i don’t believe we should live in fear from it. This is all a huge Media scare tactic so that people watch and read more news. This is the same tactic the media used during terrorist attacks, to get more controll over the people. Again as I said, this is my own opinion, and you are entitled to your own opinion, but no matter how bad this virus is, you should still take appropriate measures to protect yourself. Just don’t overdo it.
