Tea party protests across America.
Wednesday, April 15 2009 will likely be recorded as the largest tea party event in world history.
A map of the United States with red pin markers indicating these events almost totally covers the map in red.The tea parties are in protest of high taxes and out of control spending by the federal government.
The hard working, tax paying citizens have had enough. “We’re mad as HELL and, and we’re not gonna take it anymore,” is the common message at all of these events.
These “Tea parties are not controlled, supported, endorsed, or in any way a part of any political party. They are not Democrats, Republican, or Independent. They are all the above. These events are planned, organized and carried out by citizens who feel victimized by their own government.
When the Tea parties first began, they were dismissed as “A few disgruntled republicans with their panties in a wad”, as on reporter put it.
It looks like the “Fat Cats” in government, local, state, and federal, are finally going to have to listen to “We the people”, the ones who elected them and gave them their cushy jobs.

amen!
Spell check. It works wonders.
hey phil good work
And what is it that they’ve had enough of, these tea bag protesters? *This* administration’s spending? Really? On the stimulus bill? On tax breaks for working people? On bailing out the auto and housing industries that deregulation and Republican leadership destroyed? What is it, exactly, that these protesters want? What are their specific demands? Because this article, with all its ballyhoo about the “largest tea party event in world history,”–wow! what a meaningless statistic!–is just as vague as the protesters’ message. And just as confused, I think, too.
Because, guess what? The “hard-working, tax-paying citizens” are actually getting tax *breaks*, unless you’re talking about the 2% of the American public who make more than $250,000, and thus, will see their taxes rise to pre-GW Bush levels. Is that who you’re talking about–the folks who make at least a quarter-of-a-million dollars a year? They’re the ones who are all upset? Is that you?
Please, someone explain to me why this article is “good work” and what these protests are supposed to be accomplishing, besides providing space for a lot of empty rhetoric.
Tell us, qweerblue what will you spend your $13.oo tax break on? A hamburger? Or maybe you could protest against people who work for their money and would rather make their own decisions as to how to spend it.
Hey Phil–where ya getting your hamburgers at, buddy? You’re gettin’ screwed.
And, uh, I *do* work for my money, and I come from a long line of factory workers and union people, reaching back to the mines of Tennessee, who have all worked for their money, and who have all gotten screwed by Republican administration after Republican administration, with the Democrats doing barely any better.
As far as protesting tax breaks, Phil, I guess what confuses me is why it is that so many people are upset that the people opposite those with the most money are getting breaks–a measly $13 or not (where ya gettin’ your numbers, dude?)…
Lastly, I cannot even begin to tell you the problems I have with this administration–but invoking the Boston Tea Party and making false charges of fascism (way to go, Cody Willard!) never entered my mind as a way to rationally challenge what I see as some serious misteps.
So, Phil, what is it, again, that these litle parties are supposed to accomplish? No one has been able to tell me that just yet…
Those of us who oppose illegal invasions of sovereign nations and of robbing from working people to give to the wealthiest segment of our population have been angry about where our money has been going for years–it just never occurred to us to wear little hats with tea bags hanging from them.
This guy needs to up his medication.
Jesus said one thing about taxes: pay them. He said lots of things about personal wealth, and not a single one was good. These protesters, who got tax cuts from Bush and Obama, are just greedy – mine, mine, mine! So ungrateful for the privilege of living in this country.
And they need to read some history books about fascism – Bush was headed down that road, but we’re taking a better track now.
