Let’s face it people sooner or later we have to give up on some businesses. It is obvious that these companies can not restructure their systems to make a profit and stay in the black. With all the money that we have pumped into the car industry in order to maintain jobs for all these people now general Motors has revealed that they plan to lay off another 3,000 workers and to cut production on three models of their vehicles. This to me is too little – too late.
It really did not take Chrysler long after Obama signed into law his massive stimulus package bill to bail out our economy. What does this tell me? It says that Chrysler executives want a larger piece of the pie.
Chrysler leaders have related that that industry conditions were actually worse than what they had expected when they estimated the bailout amounts that they needed. It appears that they can not even estimate their budgets properly let alone run a multi-billion dollar corporation. After 13 billion dollars I would expect that they would have something to show us for our tax dollar.
It has been estimated that GM will more then likely request additional funds to the tune of 18 billion dollars. GM has plans for reducing their labor force as well as additional plant closures in the near future. Correct me if I am wrong but where are the jobs being saved? Is it the CEO’s position that we are talking about here? In my opinion the first thing that should have been done is that the CEO’s of these corporations should have been let go for getting this industry into this position in the first place.
I don’t know about everyone else but I am certainly tired of seeing my tax money spent to help support a losing cause. I encourage everyone to contact their representative and protest this continued bailout.
