The U.S. brand of democracy is an exercise in freedom, regardless of who is in charge — Republican or Democrat, Liberal or Conservative.

Conservatives and Liberals are forever involved in a political battle that makes our system of democracy all the more interesting. Their goals are similar but the avenues leading to that goal are different. No matter who is in charge, the underlying purpose of either administration is the importance of maintaining the freedom that citizens enjoy. When we consider freedom, we must also come to terms with what exactly it means.  When people are deprived of rights, such as healthcare, housing, education, asd well as other amenities to which they are entitled, freedom, in the true sense of the word, becomes diluted with irregularities The exigency of such priorities seems to be relegated, from time to time, to the backburner of politics, either because of unexpected obstacles that stand in the way of solutions to problems, or, perhaps, a deliberate procrastination caused by the influence of lobbyists, hired by conglomerates, who prefer the status quo, in order to hold on to the privileges that they enjoy.

Liberals may be genuinely involved in the business of ameliorating some of the dire circumstances under which a large majority of citizens exist, but are at a loss to do anything concrete, without first calculating how to do so, in order to avoid adversely affecting other areas of the economy.  It is difficult to strike the right balance in  areas of politics and economics.  If something is taken away from those that already have it, and given to those who do not, the result might prove to be counterproductive.

Conservatives, on the other hand, believe that the rich must be supported, so that they can contribute to the poor and middleclass, in order to keep them employed.  Yet, today, many banks and other financial and commercial institutions are bankrupt, confirming that the concept may not be one that is permanently feasible, and that both liberals and conservative can do no more than what our system of democracy allows.
