The government wants to disarm and disenfranchise, control and dominate. The question is: Will we let them?
Several administrations have condoned the erosion of our freedoms. The worst came to pass with the Patriot Act of the Bush Presidency, setting up a potential police state through the use of warrant less wiretapping and Internet surveillance. At the very end of the Bush Presidency we also experienced a move that has the potential to destroy the American economy through the TARP act. As for Mr. Change himself, President Obama has done no better. He has passed a second bailout, proposed a multi-trillion dollar budget, tripled the size of Americorps through the GIVE Act, and now proposes a trillion dollar plus expense to the American taxpayer in universal health care.
Economically speaking, we do not have the money for this type of spending. China, which holds an exorbitant amount of debt belonging to you and I, is starting to get a little nervous. The Federal Reserve, operating on virtually no oversight hides transactions and prints money which will lead to hyper inflation. These types of practices will run our economy into the dirt. If the economy grinds to a halt, America will die.
Politicians are in the automobile business. The executive branch of the government appoints “Czars” to handle government oversight of the Auto Industry, not too mention several other areas. Never mind the facts that there are absolutely no provisions for any of this in the Constitution. Government also thinks its important to control the banking industry as well. They force healthy banks to take TARP money then telling those same banks that they cannot pay the tax payers back in full. Government shouldn’t been in any business. It should be abiding by its constitutional checks and balances, or have we forgotten what those are.
America was founded on individuals taking initiative to better themselves, now we wonder when the next government check is going to come in, so we don’t have to do anything for ourselves. The founders of this nation provided us with the “pursuit” of happiness, not instant gratification. We need to get off our rear end, stop watching American Idol and take back our political system from the career politicians who think they can do whatever they want, with or without our consent.
To quote the founders, “… Governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed,– That when any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it…”
Think about this: Is the federal government serving us or taking care of what is best for it to consolidate its power over us?
If we continue down this road, The United States will cease being a land of the free and home of the brave, instead it will be the land of the enslaved and the home of the apathetic.
