Iran’s next generation is smarter, faster and much more peaceful.

For five straight days the population of Iran is pushing for change, and pushing hard. These are good people who are tired of the secular regime that represses women’s rights as well as some basic human rights. The demographic of the the protesters could be described as primarily young men and women who are able to exchange information faster than the the government can censor it.

Iran is not our best friend, but who’s fault is that? Yes, we had that problem with the hostages. Our biggest impediment to relations is a failure of the U.S. to let the past be the past and look toward the future of a more peaceful, unified world. Everyone knows the real leadership in the country is the clerics, some of which are hard-line.

Iran is to be commended for at least holding free elections, a rarity in the middle-east. Iran is slipping into democracy via the internet and television. Information sharing is now instant. This could also be used against the Chinese and North Korean governments. Information is a very powerful communication tool.

If people are allowed to see how others in the world live, they might easily decide that they need to switch their form of government. We did, but it took eight eight years of enduring an idiot as our representative. That same idiot that started a war with a country that posed no threat to us. The same idiot who drove the U.S. economy of a cliff. The same idiot that violated Geneva Convention law, and actually tried to re-write the U.N. agreements forbidding torture.

President Obama has been very diplomatic. He has stated clearly that he does not want to draw any quick conclusions, or influence the election in any way. The Iranian people are literally putting their lives on the line to do this. Many people and countries are monitoring the situation with great interest to see what the outcome will be.

Revolutions will become more prevalent as information technology expands. If you want to free a people from a repressive regime, give them the tools they need to make informed decisions based on current information. CIA, are you out there?

Freedom is a sweet elixir and once you get a little, you can’t get enough. Even here in the U.S. we are not as free as we should be. We are who the world points to as a shining star and example for the world to emulate. George Bush and his buddy Dick Haliburton did more to destroy this country economically and psychologically, all this while finding new and inventive ways of trampling human rights.

We send war criminals to the Hague, what happens when our leaders are the ones perpetrating the war crimes?
