If you are a foreigner, be very careful when you notice the Ugandan Presidential Convoy on a Highway.

In Uganda, the President of the land, Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is the fountain of power and authority. He wields so much power that whatever he wants he gets. We have a love-hate relation with him as citizens. Talking about the love relationship, we think he is one of the most pragmatic and the longest serving leaders since Independence. He has certainly done some great things for this country, the most important of which is peace and stability.
But my President has suddenly become a danger to the lives of Ugandans everytime he is on the road with his long fleet of vehicles full of the Presidential Guards, armed to the teeth and driving rather zig-zagly on the Highways. Not so long a go, couple of men died when their vehicle happened to be on the same road at the same time with the Presidential Convoy. A man who had safely packed on the sides of the road was knocked off the road and he suffered serious injuries. The President himself came out to sympathize with the victim who was rushed to Hospital. In another turn of events, as soon as this man recovered from Hospital, he was promptly arrested by police for threatening the life of the President. This charge was rather unbelieveable.
Just two days ago, the Presidential Convoy again hit innocent travellers on the Jinja highway and killed some few. We are worried that should things remain unchanged, the statistics of people dying at the very hands that should be governing them will be on the increase. I wonder how leaders manage their road travels in other countries, I hope they are not as dangerous as the Ugandan Presidential Convoy!
