For years the corporate media has hid behind the pretense that there was a Liberal bias in the media. It was a complete lie.

Today on his radio program Rush Limbaugh claimed that the shooter in the Holocaust Museum was influenced by the left.  When you listen to Talk radio it is permeated by Right Wing insanity and paranoia. This is just the latest example of lies and propaganda.

When you question why there is only one set of ideas presented, the corporate media will say it is because this is what the public wants.  The only problem with this thesis is that in elections since 2000 the electorate has been evenly split until 2006 and 2008 when it began to move decidedly away from Right Wing thinking.  That means that these views are the views of the owners of  the media.

Far from Liberal, the Hannity’s, Savages, Limbaugh’s, and O’Reilly’s have been given free reign to fan the fires of hatred in America.  On a daily basis they aggravate every open wound in the social fabric of this nation.  They create a fear of race, fear of immigrants, fear of human sexuality, fear of difference, hysterical religious fundamentalism, violent ideas of nationalism, and absolute paranoia.

As I continue with the ideas expressed by Michael Rowe in the Huffington Post on June 11,2009, there was a time when intellectual honesty wasn’t seen as a weakness and unpatriotic.  There was a time when all American’s knew the difference between Free Speech and irresponsible speech. Today those distinctions are gone.

Paul Jacobs on 2/22/09 stated,” There is a Right Wing conspiracy.  The public airwaves have been commandeered by a handful of media conglomerates such as Clear Channel One.

Like everything else in this nation the hijacking of the news and turning it into propaganda began with deregulation of the industry.  Prior to the Telecommunications Act of 1996 media tried to present facts and balance opinions.  It is also interesting that claims of Liberal bias in the media are never backed up with proof.

If the media was really liberal and not a mouthpiece for corporate interests they would report in a supportive way issues such as national healthcare reform, Welfare. tax and trade fairness and others.

I think the fact of how biased the media was in favor of the Right was never more evident than in the last election.  There were two incidents that should have been truly instructive but no one made an issue of it.

In one incident,  Rick Sanchez brought up Todd Palin’s involvement in the Alaska Independence Party for which he was registered to vote as late as 2004.  The Alaska Independance Party was founded by a man who once said the fires of Hell  are icy cold compared to my hatred for the United States.  This was a party that had supported secession from the united States and their original leader died in a failed attempt to get his hands on dynamite and it wasn’t to go panning for gold.

This was at a time Republicans were preaching and fanning the fires of hate with Obama’s paling around with terrorists and using his last name to insinuate he was not American.  While he hardly knew William Ayers, Sarah Palin’s husband may have truly been paling around with terrorists.  CNN dropped this story like a bad habit when McCain threatened CNN with a law suit and no other media outlet except MSNBC said anything much about it.  On the other hand the Right Wing media propaganda machine kept insinuating Obama had ties to a terrorist which was demonstrably false.

Once again CNN had Campbell Brown and Kyra Phillips doing real investigative journalism.  Kyra Phillips was looking into the complaint lodged against Palin for firing the Public Safety Commissioner.  Campbell Brown had the temerity to ask Tucker Bounds, from the McCain Campaign, to give her one example of the charge he was laying against Obama.  Bounds couldn’t because it wasn’t true it was just another talking point that the media was expected to just accept as true.

The sanctimonious blowhard Bill Bennett ranted about unfair biased coverage.  This would be the last night I ever watched CNN because they immediately shifted to cheerleader coverage of the Republican Convention.  Bill Bennett was given his own show and Campbell Brown was given a show with  the completely false title of No Bias no Bull which turned out to be all bias and mostly bull.

Only MSNBC with Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann and Ed Schultze, has a genuinely Liberal slant.  What has passed for Liberal for years is middle of the road with the yellow lines and dead armadillos commentators.  That just goes to show how far the enormous ignorant blowhard Limbaugh and friends have been allowed to yank the conversation towards the land of Right Wing fruitcakery.

As  the last two weeks have shown the chickens are coming home to a violent roost.  Now people are beginning to demand accountability for the incendiary comments and all the Right Wing media can muster are lame excuses and attempts to claim it is the left ( if you can find them) that are really the angry ones. These are lame excuses.  The Right Wing Propaganda Noise Machine has just blown out its speakers.
