The Roots of Child Abuse

The case of Baby P is an eye opener for all the babies who at this very moment are in the same position as he once was. We should remember that this is not a one-off case. These little ones voices are never heard. A child becomes a good human being when it’s given the chance to have a good childhood.

Why is one child in the UK killed every week due to abuse? Are we thinking about our decisions & our behaviors? Living in a civilized society it is worthwhile for us to show respect even to children. Every time I hear about Baby P, it makes me think of his agonies. It is easy to put the blame on the mother, the step-father, the social services or the government but I feel this has happened as a result of our failures as a society. We are becoming more abusive, hostile, ruthless, brutal, and violent. We should learn to be more benevolent, gentle, compassionate, and kindhearted. If we are to stop this from recurring stringent measures are needed for child security. In such cases, the social services should give preference & protection for the baby over mother, as the child is the most vulnerable one. Research shows children of the single parents are suffering from more poverty, have fewer opportunities and are the most vulnerable cases as they never will get the chances of a perfect family upbringing. Are we going to start thinking about how to build a good family? A good family makes a good society and a good nation.

Why should a woman have a baby if she intends to torture & kill it if situation permits? Just because she helps in giving a life it doesn’t mean she has the right to grab it. Parents who have history of mental illness should take appropriate treatment before opting to have children. Alcohol related crimes are on the raise and it is high time to restrain our lifestyle, if it causes an offense. We do care for animals but when are we going to learn to care for our own little ones. Did Baby P die so that he will show the world that violence to young children is most brutal & it should never ever happen again? Every time he went through the abuse he would have thought, “My God, let not anyone undergo this”. To accomplish his wish he has given us the opportunity. If this wish of him is fulfilled his soul will rest in peace.
