The Solution to America’s Problems

If only the government, and the people, didn’t make everything so gosh-darn hard and complicated. Following these simple ideas many of America’s problems could be solved. If only…
I’m sure our government is far too complex to ever consider the simple solution, but here it is. This is how I think the American government can start repairing itself.
First, stop whipping up bail out packages. Enough with the trillion dollar plans that the average man never sees. Why is the government bailing out car companies? The government wouldn’t bail out the little guy, that’s for sure. But they’ll hand money over to big car companies to keep them from going under. Here’s an idea, why not buy some of these vehicles sitting in the lots and give them (optionally) to middle class and poor Americans? 100% give. This will help families with commuting to work, amongst other obvious things.
Next, create jobs. Perhaps we should stop sending jobs overseas, as well? THAT might help. Creating jobs would be a good start though. It worked for Franklin Roosevelt during the Great Depression. Build, tear down, re-build, anything! There are far too many unemployed citizens who have worked-hard for a good portion of their lives. If we can be building massive football stadiums with million dollar monitors then we can put in a little money to creating jobs. With all the taxes the government collects from the wealthy they should be able to do something with it.
Let’s continue by getting the Health Care plan right. It is obvious America needs a plan that works. Something that gives almost everyone what they want. It should provide quality health care at a cost-effective price while allowing those with private insurance and care to keep their plan. Nothing should be forced. This would obviously take awhile to work out and it probably won’t come out right the first time. But our healthcare system needs to change.
Stop bickering. I want major issues like abortion to be solved, but the government should be focusing on rebuilding and bettering America; protecting its people and providing for them. Once we’ve established a stable environment once more and dig ourselves out of this recession we can tackle the other problems America is divided on. These are important, but not dire. Can America stop bickering about the opinion-related issues and get together on what immediately affects our lives?
Finally, screw the debt. While impossible, it makes sense. America has too much debt. We’ll never get out of it and no one will ever be paid. Why? Because the debt is ancient, ever growing, and not enough money exists to cover it. In reality, the debt is just a giant number on paper and nothing more. Instead of just constantly building up debt that’ll never get paid I vote America, through some clever magic, wipes the slate clean. (I’m sure the countries they owe would love that) Again, it’s impossible, but it would allow America to start over and, for awhile, keep up with paying new debts.
This has been the short and sweet version of how America should, but never could, solve its problems.

Whoa. You had me until the end. There is NO way we can just say screw the debt. That would plundge the value of the dollar, reduce confidence in the stock market, cause businesses to shut down entirely. It’s not like the debt you have. The government needs to first spend less, reduce taxes and allow for us, the American people and businesses to thrive. We will be able to pay down our debts and show the world the right way to be responsible.
