The (Un)fairness Doctrine

276 years ago, Benjamin Franklin wrote in the New England Courant, “Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.”    Today we are faced with the very real possibility that the Washington politicians and our very own president are interested in doing just that. 

Nancy Pelosi, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer and the like are trying to squelch our right to free speech through the Fairness Doctrine.  “Oh, but that was voted down,” you say. 

You’re right. It was voted down, but the powers-that-be are trying to sneak that pesky Fairness Doctrine, or should I say, Un-fairness Doctrine through the back door, like a teenager trying to slip in the house after breaking curfew.  Here is how Obama and pals are going to do it.  Oh, you don’t think that rock star, messiah-like president of ours has anything to do with the Fairness Doctrine?  Think again. 

The FCC has appointed a new Chief Diversity Officer, named Mark Lloyd.  As a sidebar, the FCC has never had a Chief Diversity Officer until now.  Mark Lloyd is a far, far, far left lunatic who believes that privately owned radio stations should pay a licensing fee equal to that of their gross operating costs, so that money can be given to public radio stations.  The problem with this is that over ninety-percent of talk radio stations are conservative and any business that is forced to pay one-hundred percent of their operating cost would be financially crippled.   If you don’t believe me, look it up. 

In 2006, Mark Lloyd wrote a book entitled, Prologue to a Farce: Communications and Democracy in America.  In that book he states that he wants to regulate the programming so that they focus on diverse views, and he wants to fine conservative radio stations, including Christian radio stations up to $250,000,000 (that is the correct number of zeros) if they don’t comply.  So, the FCC is the teenager tiptoeing in the backdoor, and Obama and his cronies come out smelling like roses.  If you ask me, they all smell like the fertilizer used on the roses.

Our basic liberties are under attack, and if you sit idly by and think someone else will see to it that your First Amendment Right will remain intact, think again.  You have to take a stand—if not for yourself, then for your children, grandchildren or just for future generations of Americans.  The mid-term elections are a little over a year away, and you can really make a difference at the polls by voting the leftwing, progressive, socialists out of office.  Without them, Obama the power hungry, dictator wannabe will spend the last two years of his presidency as a lame duck. 

Some of you may think that this is all gloom and doom, and I give no positive message, but I did just write that Obama will serve only one term.  That’s positive—very positive.
