My take on the current state of politics in America.

It will soon be that time again, to go to the polls and select our next President of the United States. At one time this was an exciting time of the year. But, as time has past it has become apparent that the participants are far to consumed with bashing each other than tackling the issues. Personally, I wouldn’t vote for either McCain or Obama. Neither one seems to have an idea as to how to best handle the current crisis that we’re in. Pulling out of Iraq would be a bigger problem than most people think. I firmly believe that if we do that we will right back in that region of the world within 5-10 years. We have isolated ourselves from the rest of the world the same world that helped us remove Iraqi troops from Kuwait in the early 90’s.

What we need is not more spending but a better system of helping people here in America. We have no problem sending billions of dollars in aid and relief to foreign countries but, we do very little to help our own citizens (i.e. Katrina & Rita). As for the health care and social security issues here are some of my solutions along with the problems. Health Care, Solution: A national health care system is not a bad idea. Problem: Greedy insurance companies and a lack of qualified doctors. Social Security, Solution: Make welfare a temporary thing not a long term income. I understand that people fall on hard times but, using the system as a means of income was not what it was intended to be. Problem: Lack of job training programs, few could pass necessary background checks for jobs and years of being welfare dependent.

There is very little if any thing that the future President can or could do about the price of oil. We have become so dependent on foreign oil that we are helpless without it. The only solution we have is find cheaper sources of fuel for our vehicles and homes. Oil will always be needed in some form or fashion but, to believe that there will come a day when it is in less demand is simply not going to happen. As long as there are other products that are produced from oil it will always be in demand.
