The democratic loss of what was once Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat has given me the courage and hope to speak my mind.

It’s about time!!! After 46  plus years the people elected a Republican to hold Senator Ted Kennedy’s seat. I read an article that says it all as far as I am concerned:

It’s time for the President and the Congress to listen to the people who have to live with the often awful consequences of their decisions and partisan political moves. The Health Care Reform Bill is NOT beneficial to many of us and we don’t want it. We don’t want to lose the little that we already have and this new Bill will wind up taking more than it gives.

Also, the President needs to pay attention to what’s actually going on in Haiti, a corrupt and weak country who’s leaders care nothing for their people and how they live. They created a weak and disastrous infrastructure and as a result of this, the earthquakes have done more damage than mere dollars from already hard-pressed Americans can fix. A lot of the rescue supplies can’t get through and there are scams soliciting funds all over the place.

Jane Velez-Mitchell was soliciting funds to be donated to Wycliff Jean’s organization which has now come under fire for dishonest use of it’s organizations funds. Didn’t anyone bother to check this out? How many people already sent their hard earned dollars to a place that may never see one dime or help one single person?

The President is ordering troops and sending our tax dollars to help the Haitians which in another time would have been a decent thing to do. Now is not the right time to make Americans pay for another country’s problems no matter how severe or tragic. He has already committed billions of our dollars to bail out fat cats who have no qualms about continuing to take huge bonus amounts out of those funds.

America is NOT the world’s largest charity organization and it’s time that we realize the old adage that “Charity DOES begin at home.

People are suffering here and the government turns a blind eye to that suffering. Walk a mile in my shoes Senators and Congressmen/women. Live my life for a month and than tell me that I should not be upset that you are squandering the tax dollars that I paid for many years on people who earn more than I will in ten lifetimes.

Show me your receipts for medicine that you pay for out of pocket and let’s compare notes as to the frequency of those purchases. I have to cut doses to survive but I bet that you don’t. Show me your grocery receipts and lets compare how often and how well we eat. What about your insurance coverage…is it adequate? I’m betting that it is and then some. Mine is called Medicare and it sucks. Do you travel to exotic places and pay the fares that regular people do? I think not. How many homes can you afford to maintain? I can barely afford the one home in a retirement community that I have a mortgage on. My bank refused to refinance my home without charging me a large fee and told me that if I tried to stop payments and get the stimulus deal that my credit would be ruined. That’s about all I have left, good credit. There was no help for me and the promises that the President made turned out to be a lot of hot air. Even the banker that I spoke too laughed at the so-called refinancing deal put forth by President Obama. The comment was, “No one reads it and no one really understands what it says.”

I did read it and someone, somewhere is lying. Maybe, everyone, everywhere is lying. All I know is that I am paying too high of an interest rate on a payment that I can’t really afford and my home is worth under $100,000 as of six months ago. It dropped in value by half since it was last officially appraised three years ago.

I am hoping that the government starts to listen for a change and not only to itself. We have problems here and we have no recourse for many of them. Giving benefits to people who are here illegally and funding other countries is not paying my bills. I am not able to pay my bills. Part of that money belongs to people on Social Security who did not get a cost of living raise and won’t get one next year either. Why do my needs as an American citizen come after the needs of people who are here illegally? Isn’t the operative word…ILLEGAL???

Why do we have laws if they are ignored to benefit people who aren’t entitled to be protected by those laws?

Wise up Washington……..or you won’t like the results in all forthcoming elections. Listen to us and work for us as you are supposed to do or we will send you home.
