My opinion on the government and the actions of the general public.

Then

A lot of things really upset me about our country’s government. I was reminded by a movie starring Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez called A War at Home. It reminded me how our government and the public treated those men and women who returned from fighting the war in Vietnam. Apparently they did not understand the effects that this would have on our soldiers mentally. When they returned they were spit on and called murders, even though our government was the ones that sent them there to begin with.

It was not until the Gulf war that the government finally realized the effects that war had on one’s mind. Some soldiers never got over what they had seen or forced to do, but yet we still keep spending more and more soldiers to war regardless of the effects that it has.

Now

We are sending more and more soldiers to war. Spending billions and billions of dollars on war while our country falls to hell. The government is worried more about spending money on war then fixing our economy for which a lot of people are suffering. Because of the decisions that the government had made lately, why should the general public believe in the government? I mean look at the housing fiasco , and now spending more on was than fixing the economy for which they screwed up.

Conclusion

Why should the general public trust in our government when:

1) They neglect they neglect the reaction of war on our soldiers?

2) They screw up our economy and spend more money on war rather then helping out the country for which they live?

No wonder why more and more people do not vote. The general public is slowly losing the confidence that we should have in the government.

That is the reason why I do not vote. No matter who has been in office lately, the decisions made have either screwed the general public or the soldiers that are supposed to protect us.

We can vote them in, but not out. That is a complete and utter double standard. What good does it do when the electoral votes can change at the drop of a hat, depending on who they want in office?
