As i was watching some television, a certain story on the news came up. It baffled and angered me. The story goes that a lady was shopping at Randall’s grocery (I think it was the grocery store.) and her purse was swiped. The lady starts yelling for help and no one helped except one Randall’s employee. Well he got the guy and got her purse back and of course she was thankful. Question now is was Randall’s. Were they thankful that they had a chivalrous employee among the thousands of stores they have? Answer: NO. They fired the guy. Apparently the policy they have keeps noble men from acting noble. Policy goes that no employee should go after anybody running out of the store. I am assuming it means theives and etc. Well here is my opinion. If corporation’s, retail store’s etc. are afraid of liability for their employee’s, then they should make some kind of contract (or something). That way when one get’s the urge to help(even if it is hazardous to one’s health), they are not liable for ANYTHING. This i assume will let helpful brave people be helpful brave people. Some who may read this are probably thinking “What’s it to me?” Well what if you were the lady getting robbed? Wouldn’t it be nice to know that someone will be able to help you if they want, without getting into trouble. This is just something to chew on. Customers who are angry at this policy want to boycott. Not sure about how that is going though. This happened sometime this week.
