The technology of the future.

It is amazing to walk into a public library, college library or government building that has free Wi-Fi internet access. If you have a built in WIFI card in your laptop you can hook up the internet in minutes. You can surf the web and upload news stories.

But what annoys me is that the public libraries and college libraries all offer internet access free of charge. If you go into a Barnes and Noble’s or a McDonald’s among other stores they charge you for the service. Usually, you will have to pay for it at the Barnes and Nobles cash register or had to pay for it before even getting into McDonalds.

It’s ridiculous. If you are coming into these stores to do research or for a cup of coffee and an egg McMuffin you should be able to read from the internet just like you would be able to read a paper at on one of their tables. I thought great I have wireless access then you go in these stores and realize it is pay for internet access and it’s like sorry chap you got to pay for it. Great, just great.

One day the internet should be as free as turning on your laptop and over the air connecting to free wireless internet. Maybe it would not be as of great bandwidth but it would be a wonderful more connective society we would live in where artists of all fields could go out and take pictures, write, do research all at the click of a mouse on your laptop. It is coming, One day we will either pay for a USB antenna, from Verizon, Sprint, or some communications company that picks up the internet. Or we will get a USB antenna from a government agency free to increase wireless broadband internet access throughout the United States.

Well I can dream. But I believe that this day is coming. We will be able to go to our local restaurant, place our laptop on the counter and work on the internet while drinking a cup of coffee.

Watch its coming. And it will be free.
