An advancement for the injured.
A U.S. bio-tech company has just received the green light from the Federal Drug Administration to start clinical trials on patients that have suffered spinal cord injuries in the last two weeks. The injection would go through the spinal cord and hope to replace the lost cells and maybe restore the feeling to their legs. The scientists that are doing this study are going to be observing for the most part to see if there are any side effects to this treatment, but for the world it is to see if the treatment can be used to replace cells in humans and maybe reverse the affects of various diseases that take people lives due to cells not being able to be regenerated. This step will answer the question for many people of is there hope or not?
The clinical trials will begin this summer and the company hopes to be able to do these trials on at least eight to ten patients.
Also, with Barack Obama in office now the government is going to be relaxing the restrictions that were previously on the funds to fund stem cell research.
