Vanity Shades Speaker of The House Q & a Session~ Politics 3/19/2012
A political Q & A with Author and Speaker of the House of Vanity Shades~Oscar Trejo Jr!!
Q. 1: School voucher systems offer parents tax money in the form of school vouchers to help pay for their children to attend private or religious schools if they choose. What’s your opinion on school vouchers?
A. I think by having school vouchers it means that schools must compete and all children will benefit in the end. It’s a good thing!
Q. 2: How should the U.S. deal with the rising costs of healthcare?
A. Government involvement is the only thing that can significantly control costs in the healthcare market.
Q. 3: Thinking about the Palestine-Israel conflict, what’s your opinion on it?
A. Hopefully a peaceful resolution to the conflict will make the world a somewhat safer place.
Q. 4: Indicate to what extent you agree or disagree with the following statement: We should offer medical treatment to anyone who comes to an emergency room regardless of that person’s ability to pay?
A: I strongly agree with that statement. All people are equal regardless of wealth; every life around us is precious. To deny a person the right to medical treatment would be denying the individual their human rights.
Q. 5: Do you favor or oppose making marijuana legally available for doctors to prescribe in order to reduce patients’ pain and suffering?
A: As long as it’s only available for doctors to prescribe to ease patients suffering, then I fully and strongly support and favor the notion.
Q. 6: What’s your view about working women who have children?
A: I think it is absolutely essential for working women to be allowed to take time off after childbirth without fear of job loss.
Q. 7: In your view, what should the U.S. do in the event that Iran develops a nuclear weapon?
A: The US should impose economic and political sanctions against Iran.
Q. 8: Thinking about solving the nation’s energy problems, what should the US be more focused on?
A: Simple… The US should be developing new energy resources by improving renewable energies like wind and solar.
Q. 9: In the case of illegal immigrants who are brought to the US as young children, what should be done in their cases?
A: They should be given conditional residency status depending on things like language skills, education, and military service.
Q. 10: What is your personal view about the death penalty?
A: The death penalty is not an effective way of deterring people from committing crimes.
Q. 11: What is your opinion on US involvement in international issues?
A: The US should get involved less often than it does now.
Q. 12: Thinking of labor unions, which statement most closely reflects your opinion?
A: Labor unions are crucial in protecting the rights of workers and preventing them from exploitation.
Q. 13: In your view, does the current US tax system favor the rich, the middle class, and the poor or does it treat them all equally?
A: I think if you ask anyone around here, they’d be glad to tell you that it favors the rich. The consensus is that prosperity will trickle down into the middle class followed by the poor. The truth is, that’s just not happening. The only class that’s enjoying profits is the rich.
Q. 14: Thinking about healthcare in the US, What’s your opinion regarding health insurance?
A: There should be no differences in health insurance costs based on health level.
Q. 15: Thinking about nuclear energy, what’s your opinion of nuclear power?
A: Nuclear power is an element of America’s energy future, but it should pay for itself.
