A rant on religious fanatics and their lunacy.

From my arena of faith, which is virtually nonexistent, none of the religious experiences described in the packet could be considered valid by me. The Davidians are crazy, in my opinion, the religious zealot who killed her children similarly to Andrea Yates should not have been allowed to have children in the first place.

If she was so into the Bible, she would’ve remembered that even though God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son (supposedly) Isaac to him, God stopped Abraham from doing it at the last minute so she should’ve known that God didn’t really want her to kill her kids.

The beliefs and values that I rely on to make these judgments are extremely skeptical and I also utilize very critical thinking. The only time I temporarily suspend my beliefs are at a movie, but even then I criticize everything that doesn’t make logical sense to me. Rational thinking plays a huge role in my judgment.

In fact, I could even go so far as to say that rational thinking is the only thing I draw on to make these judgments. Perhaps if I had any sort of faith, I’d find more of these experiences to be legitimate. The rules in our culture do not allow for the sort of experiences one might have from an alien abduction, alcoholic consumption, visions from God telling you to kill your children, or from a lunatic prophesizing that the government will come after you in an apocalypse, in Waco?

It does; however, allow for visions from God telling you to go ahead and proceed with doing righteous things, and near-death religious experiences. And I overwrote by like a hundred words, yay.
