Why Obama, if elected, may suffer the fate of Jimmy, one of his more illustrious predecessors?

The young whites now raising their hands in Obama meetings were also the same guys who vociferously abused anyone who wrote anything against Bush on Yahoo and other message boards in the aftermath of 9/11. Some even misrepresented their ages to be there. Now that they know their favorite president has no jobs for them, though they labored for him, they went into reverse gear.

So Obama is riding this quicksand of opportunistic supporters who will again shift their gears forward if he doesn’t perform within the next 4 years. That is, unless some “pious-anonymous-well-wisher-patriots” of the oil cartel pull another scandal in the White House and don’t let the president have a smooth ride all those years.

But will “ex-Friends of Reza Pahlavi” rest until their ages-old plans on middle-eastern oil pipe-lines are executed? I doubt it. Because only the Shah is dead. But most of his co-conspirators are still alive. And they continue to have a strangle-hold on America’s politics and economy.

There were only three times this oil mafia freight train was derailed:

Gerald pardoned Richard and dug his own political grave. The next guy Jimmy was already in trouble as his Republican predecessors had left him the legacy of a grossly mismanaged the economy. A hostile bureaucracy made it hell for him. So it was only a matter of asking Iranians to delay the release of American hostages to wrest the presidency back. (In politics anything is possible – even seeking temporary loans from your enemies, even if they are Iranians!)

But things didn’t go the way as expected.

Next gauntlet was thrown by a coterie of unruly, young Saudi princes who plotted assassination of Fahd if he paid GWB Sr.’s second bill for Gulf War I expenses. Fahd was narrowly saved by his brother the crown prince (the present king) who airlifted him from Riyadh to the safety of Jeddah. That second bill was never paid and Gulf War I came to a premature end.

A third eight-year hurdle followed immediately when an unknown Southern saxophonist called Bill unexpectedly sang his way into the White House from the Arkansas wilderness. Since he was exposed to British views on economics too, he unexpectedly could survive to a second term pulling out card tricks which American conventional wisdom never knew of.

Now it became a life-or-death situation for the oil mafia. If this guy Bill was allowed the full term without any events, it meant a cake-walk to presidency for his assistant Al. Since sophisticated machinations were of no use (he knew better), they decided on going third-rate and simply pimpish. And it was as simple as going to the lingerie store and buying a pink thong – buyers’ anonymity was enshrined in the constitution by the special counsel.

Florida voters did the rest.

Back to the present.

Obama, riding the quicksand popularity thinks it is as simple as ordering “I am the Supreme Commander. Change Now.” Conveniently forgetting that there is something called “Bureaucracy” though it is not as visible as in some other countries. No president can survive a hostile bureaucracy supporting the oil barons.

It is easy to say “I will change the bureaucracy too”. It is not that easy as his illustrious predecessor Jimmy learned rather belatedly and cost him his presidency.

(Despite all his purported failures, I still love Jimmy because he is the one who, with foresight, funded Surface Skimming Smart Bombs and Patriot Anti-missiles in the midst of strong opposition! That too, to protect for years to come a people who never loved him then!)

And the greatest losers are going to be African Americans. Their enthusiasm is understandable – with the tragic history of slavery behind them. In fact I too would be for it as it would erase part of the guilt passed down by our forefathers.

Unfortunately that is not the reason for Obama’s quicksand supporters who will shift loyalty on the slightest pretext as they are not used to hardships. Republican mismanagement of economy always meant Democratic presidents spent most of their time just repairing it. Except for Bill, none of them succeeded in that endeavor and, instead, they got blamed for their predecessors’ economic excesses too. (The oil barons are adept at the art of passing the buck while keeping the barrel.)

And with a hostile bureaucracy of the oil cartel era ever in attendance, promising the moon will undermine the chances of another African American ever getting nominated for presidency in this millennium.
