Thoughts about John McCain’s town hall meeting outburst.
News agencies have been reporting that John McCain faced angry and loud protesters at one of his town hall meetings where the topic was again, healthcare. McCain was apparently taken a back by these loud and pointed comments. One person even had to be removed from the meeting because they were getting too excited.
Since the Grand Ole Party has been a proponent of this kind of behavior, they should be more than comfortable in this atmosphere. The disruption and irritation of democratic town hall meetings has been the staple of the campaign against healthcare. Instead of urging concerned citizens to work with their representatives to voice their concerns, they have just been putting a stop to all progress. If these people are concerned enough to scream and yell at a meeting, then they should also be concerned enough to ask the elected representatives of their political party to come up with other solutions. Doesn’t appear to be happening.
Like many others, I don’t understand all of the facets of the proposal, so I can’t say that I would even personally support it outright. But, I can say that dirty politics and disruption is counterproductive, immature, and a waste of our taxpayer dollars. Our representatives need to be constructive or they need to get out of office and quit spending our money, regardless of their party affiliation.
I think John McCain experienced a little bit of what goes around comes around at his town hall meeting.
McCain is a good guy, though. He vowed to fight for better healthcare solutions and work on something for the people. I believe he is the type to do it. He should garner some assistance by telling pundits like Glenn Beck, Bill O’Reilly, and others to cut the BS and urge voters to get involved in solutions. I have no way to verify this, but I believe the majority of people without healthcare are Republican voters, if it follows the same trend seen with socio-economic status. If that’s the case, the Republicans need to take care of their supporters and definitely take care of American citizens.
